Hey there Andrew! Sorry for the confusion - the #4 filter basket is still in development and will be released later this year. The basket you got uses flat bottom basket filters like this: https://www.amazon.com/Melitta-Basket-Filter-Paper-Count/dp/B071JQDKBP/ref=sr_1_4?crid=115SV7MBLDT7Q&keywords=melitta+8-12+cup+basket+filter+paper&qid=1579306077&sprefix=melitta+8-12%2Caps%2C221&sr=8-4
Let us know any other questions and glad to hear the coffee is tasting great!
“Eh. It makes good coffee... but it is far clunkier to actually use than we first realized. You have to have the little holder nearby on your counter to set either the lid for the carafe on while coffee is brewing, or if the lid is being used, you set the used coffee ground basket down on the holder.”
“The machine is great and I would rate it 5 stars. However, the carafe is problematic and reduces the score to 3. The carafe does not pour smoothly; in fact it splatters. The design is flawed in that there is a recessed lip blocking the flow to the spout. The coffee gets trapped by the lip until the tilt is at a large enough angle where it overwhelms the spout and splatters on the way out.”
Hello Joshua,
Sorry to hear about your experience! It should not be splattering when you pour. I am wondering if that little bridge over the pour spout is in place? This is designed to help direct the stream of coffee right into your mug. We're working on some videos showing this along with how we normally pour from the Six carafe. It should *not* be splattering. Thank you for the feedback! I will reach out to you directly to see if we can't improve this.
“It's an okay coffee maker, but it's not noticeably better than any other coffee maker I've used, just more expensive. I was expecting something much more.”
“Makes a wonderful (and hot!) cup of coffee. The heat seems to be applied in the best possible manner to arrive at an outcome (the coffee) that isn't "burned," however, and instead is smooth, flavorful. I will say I the initial "instructions" were a little lacking in describing each and every piece of what was in the box, but I was finally able, by trial and error, to figure out what each of the pieces was for and how it fit with the other bits. Now it all works as smooth as silk.”
