Works good but the carfe does stain on the inside from the coffee being made.

I have used three coffee makers, and the last two machines they had featured shower heads that heavily favored the rear. The current machine, however, provides a relatively flat bed of coffee grounds, though there is still some room for improvement. Despite this, I am content with the quality of coffee produced. I believe that with modern advancements in technology and engineering, coffee makers should be able to offer perfectly even distribution of water through the shower head. While the current machine meets my needs, I believe that greater consistency in brewing can and should be achieved.

The good: Brews a good cup, build quality of the brewer itself is quite good. The bad: Everything else. Carafe/filter holder/heat shield is a nuisance to stack and unstack for every use. The heat shield splatters water on you every time you brew and pull out the stack to get to the carafe. Carafe and filter holder are very cheap looking and feeling, especially compared to the body, like some kind of 1980s insulated mug from the convenience market. The carafe dribbles coffee everywhere when you pour. Ratio claims this was fixed couple years back, but it is still a huge issue in the machine I received from Ratio in February 2022. The dealbreaker: The lid is hollow and isn't sealed. When you wash it, soap, water, and bacteria fill up the inside of the lid. You can't clean it all out, so when you put the lid on, this filth drains back down into the carafe. Additionally, when you try to pour, the coffee goes into the same cavity and runs out everywhere around the rim, then drips the contaminated coffee back into your carafe when you level it out.

Great coffee! Only complaint is to not use a sticker on the carafe—had to use goo gone to remove it cleanly which seems like something you shouldn’t have to do at this price point.

Very basic - no timer or other options - no heated carafe but rather an insulating and you’ll need to out an insulated topper on it after brewing. Requires more pieces to wash or that “float around” somewhere on your counter top or elsewhere when not in use. So it’s really usually only in complete form when brewing. The rest of the time the visual of it is in pieces.m if that makes sense. Lots of plastic overall so not a stainless feel.

Pros: Good tasting coffee. Cons: The spout dribbles when pouring the coffee. The plugin cord attachment at the back of the unit is finicky. If it is jostled the coffee maker won't turn on. The start control press button at the front is also finicky and difficult to get to work. Sometimes it lights up and sounds like it has started and then turns off. Very inconvenient. Other times it takes several touches to get it started. I have owned a Ratio Eight for about a year and a half during which time the machine was returned twice for warranty work on the switch. It was during Covid. It took months to fix and I was told it was the "chip" that was defective. I hope this one doesn't have the same issue. I would by far prefer a mechancial switch that went "click" when you pushed it and worked consistently rather than this more complicated (operationally) type of switch. I have owned the Ratio Six a few weeks. I am hoping it does not go the way of the first ratio that I owned and ended up with a warranty issue. The good news is the warranty help was consistently good and they stayed in excellent communication. 5 stars to the staff who helped me.
