Ratio Six Thermal Carafe (Series 2) Matte Stainless Reviews

4.2 Rating 37 Reviews
As Jillian noted below, water gets inbetween where the plastic collar attaches to the carafe at the top. If you shake the carafe you can hear a tonne of old water swishing around inside the unit!! If you wash the unit upside down some water will definitely go in there and get trapped. How did this design pass the testing stage?? And this is version 2 !!!!

Hey Ren! This is a defective carafe seal, not how it's designed to work. We're going to reach out to send a free replacement. Thanks for letting us know!

I'm a bit mystified that there is no way in this design to actually seal the carafe completely closed. The lid for the top only locks in place with the pour spot open, and has no locked in option that keeps it sealed off. So how is the intent of this carafe - to keep coffee warm - achieved? There is also a weird manufacturing defect where water is allowed to get into the seam where the top and bottom portions of the carafe meet when I am washing and rinsing out the carafe, and sometimes murky brown coffee tinged water dribbles out there as I pour. As in water gets between the double walls of the carafe. That seam needs to be actually properly sealed off. Given that this design is take 2, it is extra disappointing that it still has these oversights present.

Hi Jillian, Thanks for your feedback. We tested the temp retention of this design and felt it kept the coffee hot for enough time for most users. However, your second issue leads us to believe there's a defect with your carafe. We're sending out a replacement. Liquid should not be coming out of the seam like that. Thanks for letting us know!

This should have been “the one” all along…design of series 1 seriously flawed.

I appreciate that Ratio replace the absolutely horrible original carafe. That said, the new car was much better, still does not allow for all the coffee to come out of the pot without it becoming a dribble pot. The simple solution would’ve been to have holes into the thermal carafe where the spout at so that when you tilt the carafe to pour, the coffee can drain out of the pot without it getting backed up in the lid, and creating a dribble stream. It’s pretty amazing, for such a highly rated machine, that such a simple deficiency continues to be undressed.

Perfect replacement for the older carafe which basically didn’t pour. This is as it should have been and it keeps the coffee warm for hours! Yay!

It solved the dripping-pour problem. It came out right after I bought the Ratio coffee maker, so I felt a little screwed that they sold me the old carafe with it.

I love the new spout design. It pours much differently than the previous one. I do "sorta" like the new lid. I like the flat of it, but I don't like the fact that it remains open. The other carafe had a little button that would seal/unseal it. This one just remains open all day and I am noticing it losing temp a little quicker than it used to. I wish there was a way to turn it more to seal it up better.

Very nice carafe. The lid design is much better and easier to clean than the previous version. Pouring coffee is better too, although the first pour of a full pot can overshoot one’s cup if not careful. Overall, a big improvement over the Series 1 model!
