“This is a simple to use single button, preprogrammed coffeemaker for brewing great coffee. Robust construction should ensure long life. Some reviews ding it for its stacked assembly and the top flexible collar that might catch on the sprinkler head. For me, these are non-issues. The collar slides under the head easily and hasn't caught once. Placing the basket on the pot followed by the collar is less troubling than grinding the beans, i.e. not a problem. I wish the pot was more ergonomically designed for easier pouring but I quickly forget that after the first sip.”
“Very stylish and makes fantastic coffee! There are a couple of design elements that make it a tad bit messier than what we used to do (Nespresso), but that's a difficult comparison. Wish the condensation didn't build up in the water holding tank after use...it's all foggy instead of being clear and nicer looking. All in all though, we are splitting hairs and are happy with our purchase!”
“This is my first time spending more than $80 for a coffee maker after seeing and reading lots of good things about this coffee maker. I don't think it has lived up to my expectations unfortunately. It could be due to user error or some subpar batches of organic Simply Nature Honduras beans from Aldi... I think I was expecting it to transform my coffee into a Starbucks drip coffee or something close...hah
Also the neat rubber gasket on the filter basket doesn't seal as tight as I expected and the steam makes a bit of a mess near the shower head(see attached picture).”
“After many weeks searching for a new coffee maker that would last, I chose the Ratio 6. To be honest, I’d like to send it back. It definitely has some good points: looks, build, ease of operating, but it ends there for me. The thermal pot does not give a clean pour-it drips down the sides the to the counter. The flat bottom filter does not finish dispensing the coffee by the time the “ready” light goes on. It’s a very nice looking coffee maker that doesn’t perform well.”
Hi Timothy,
We're sorry to hear about your experience so far! We have a new carafe coming this month that we'll be in touch about. We'd also love to walk through some troubleshooting regarding your filter basket draining. Just send us an email at hello@ratiocoffee.com and we're happy to help!
“I love the machine. I have made pour-over coffee for the last two years. I like the bloom phase of the machine and the quality coffee it makes.
The only thing I don't like is the carafe lid; it is made of plastic and seems pretty cheap. Also, the carafe lid leaks a little after releasing the thumb button.”
“Cumbersome design. Filter does not stay in place unless the carafe is positioned first. There is no independent heating mechanism to keep the coffee warm. Rather, it relies on the insulation of the carafe. Poor return policy as they charge a 20% restocking fee. Would not recommend this product or company.”
Hi David,
Sorry to hear about your experience! We do have a 30 day "love it" guarantee and while we do charge for return shipping, we only assess a restocking fee if the unit is returned damaged from not following return instructions.
