“There seems to be a gap that is too wide between the machine and heat shield that allows for a lot of steam to come out and create condensation on the machine itself. I am hoping that this won’t create long term effects and maybe it is normal. Other than that, the machine is really nice and makes a GREAT cup of coffee! Coava, Verve, Sightglass, and Andytown are all great in the Ratio!!”

A few things though that I think could use improvement and if you have any advice please let me know.
- the thermal carafe drips after each pour
- during brewing a considerable amount of condensation forms on the outside of the unit by the shower head from the steam
- when you pull the finished pot away from the machine the heat shield splashes water into you and all around as it hits the top of the machine.”

Thank you for the detailed note! A few thoughts:
- If your thermal carafe does not seal completely after you release the pour button, we can send you a replacement - it should not drip the the button is not pushed down!
- Presume this is when the heat shield is in place? We do include a microfiber towel to give it a quick wipe down after brewing. The heating element is very powerful and it does create a lot of steam, but hopefully the taste of the coffee and the balanced extraction is worth the small trade off of some condensation! We would have to create a taller heat shield to try to eliminate all condensation, and that makes it a bit more tricky to put the carafe in place and remove it.
- We recommend slowly pulling the carafe and filter basket out to minimize any potential splashing.

“Overall, this is a beautiful machine, and it makes delicious coffee. A couple of oddities of product design/usability make the machine not quite perfect and feel a bit like a prototype. (1) The thermal carafe doesn't pour very smoothly; (2) the start button activates with the slightest touch, so we've started the brewing process by mistake a couple of times; (3) the heat shield is finicky—a little hard to set in place, and it can splatter you with condensation when you're removing the setup once the coffee is finished brewing. That said, we are extremely pleased with the quality of the parts, the beautiful design, and most important of all, the absolutely perfect cup of coffee it makes every time! This was a great upgrade to our morning routine.”
“I wish there were 1/2 stars - you are better than good but not quite excellent. (+’s) heats up fast, brews a really good cup of coffee, fit finish and most build quality is excellent. (-’s) carafe does not keep coffee warm as long as others, water splashes out of pour in opening quite easily, rubber brew basket gator is finicky, the drip tray to hold brew basket is so cheap it tarnishes the whole experience - a little. Ok another + the lid for the pour in opening is metal and is awesome but makes the contrast to the tray all the sharper. If it does not sound like I am super happy with purchase, sorry, because I am super happy. Thank you”
