“Makes great coffee but the device is clunky, large and not easy to use. The upper compartment that holds the grinds needs to be removed completely to remove the carafe and pour coffee. When removing the upper compartment the bottom is completely open and susceptible to drips and makes a mess. Comes with a piece to go underneath to prevent drips but really a poor design. Very disappointed in this machine considering the price tag. I would not purchase again and would not recommend this coffee maker to other customers.”
“Since getting this I have been the only one home and make myself 2 cups every morning. After upping the grind to 23 from 20 on my Encore I get a great cup every day. In a few weeks the family returns and I can start brewing full pots. The plug was loose but when I called about it was told to push it in more firmly. This took holding the machine in both hands and really pushing but it popped in and is fine now. It's a simple matter to tilt the carafe before opening to pour-so do this. I wanted a 5 yr warranty and choose this over the Technivorm despite the fact it is actually made in China. That is the only fault I can find with this machine. I even received a cloth to keep the condensation wiped off the matte black finish. Bottom line all the issues I read about before buying are non-issues and the coffee is tasty and hot consistently.”
“Pros: Very beautiful and sleek design, great brewing temperature and holding the temperature thought the brewing process. The coffee is excellent, and that is the most important thing.
Cons: The h2o level markings on the water container are very inaccurate, and at the price of the Ratio, I expected that to be way better. The lid to the thermos looks nice but feels cheap and doesn’t pour very smoothly. Overall a solid coffee maker, but again at the price it is, would like to see those two things improved on.”
“We have been making pourovers for years and would have a coffee pot at our house to serve groups of friends, but never drank that coffee ourselves. IYKYK Needless to say, we finally have a coffee pot we will drink out of and is beyond our expectations.”
“How do you get both flavor and convenience? With the Ratio Six. I'm afraid I have no patience for a proper pour-over routine and the Ratio Six has tackled that with aplomb. I can see the used coffee grounds lie flat in the basket, with no apparent tunneling, indicating an even dispersion of water over the grounds. When paired with a Fellow Ode grinder for even grinding, I get maximum coffee taste that retains the smoothness and minimizes bitterness. I've lost count of the number of coffeemakers I have purchased; I'm happy to say this will be my last.”
“We wanted to love this coffee maker, but ultimately after 3 weeks of use, certain elements of the design and functionality led us to return the machine. Without a doubt, it makes great coffee. But the the design and function of the carafe, the stacking tower of components, and the ease of use were the downfalls for this machine. If this machine were in the $150 price point, I could justify purchasing it- but it is not worth the cost at it's current $350. All that said, the customer service is fantastic. I look forward to improvements to this machine and others and hope to try again with Ratio in the future.”
