The brewer makes a good cup of coffee. Sadly, there’s no way to fully close the top of the carafe when not in use, which greatly reduces the holding time and is a non-starter for me. I also learned your “no questions asked” return policy actually involves quite a few questions asked in addition to a 2-3 day delay to find out if you will even accept the return.

Hi Kip, We value your feedback on the Series 2 Ratio Six! We've extensively tested the carafe and found that the lid's design doesn't impact the coffee's temperature over time. Regarding your experience with our return form and policy, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We're committed to improving our processes and appreciate your input.

The beeping that’s lets you know your coffee is done has stopped working, but that’s great for me, as I don’t like the noise anyway. Makes great coffee and that’s what matters.

I really wanted to love this coffee maker. It looks great and makes a very tasty cup of coffee. So if that's the top things for you, this is your coffee maker. However, a few key things just let it down way too much for how expensive the machine is. The workflow is just odd and I couldn't get used to how clunky it is. When my coffee is done brewing, I have to pop the whole heat shield + filter body + carafe assembly off. The heat shield works because it seats higher than the lowest part of the shower head, which means when removing this assembly, the soft heat shield drags across the still-wet shower head. If i go incredibly slowly, the heat shield will only fling hot water onto my hand. If I go any faster than extremely gently, I am treated to the heat shield flinging water directly into my face. That's not as bad as it sounds as by the time it has flown through the air, it's not like the little droplets are scalding anymore. They arent going to hurt me, they are just annoying. Next, because the filter just sits on the carafe, I have to do something with it while I pour my coffee. Ratio includes a little plate thing to put the filter body on... but... why? Why does this need to exist at all? Both the heat shield flinging water and the "where do i put the filter?" anoyances could be solved by making the machine just like 1% less aesthetically pleasing and having the filter body attach to the machine like pretty much any other coffee maker. I was willing to forgive both the annoyances above because of the quality of the coffee produced, but the final nail in the coffin was how poorly the carafe holds heat. It's heavy, it feels substantial, you expect great things. Until you go get your second cup and it's lukewarm. The lid is always open. There is no way to trap the heat. My wife usually likes 2 cups in the morning so I would brew enough to let her have 2. The last drink from her Yeti mug (the wide kind that arent nearly as good at heat retention and also have a hole constantly letting heat leave the lid) was consistently hotter than the coffee she would refill her cup with from the carafe 45 minutes later. That's... not great. TLDR: 5 stars for the styling and quality of the cup, -2 stars for how annoying it is to live with. 3/5.

This machine produces excellent coffee. My only gripe is that the carafe pour spout tends to spill coffee down the side. But I really care about the taste. I would recommend this machine to other coffee lovers.

The perfect coffee machine, hands down. Beautifully made and minimal use of plastic. One important detail, though. If you’re looking to use a glass carafe like a Chemex with this, you can’t do it. The standard carafe and their glass carafe have magnets in the bases and the new version of the Ratio Six will only work with these carafes. Standard carafe uses a plastic filter bowl so if you want glass you need to buy theirs. No big deal, but should have been mentioned on the product page. Otherwise, perfection
