“Do not buy the Glass Carafe version of the Ratio Six. The shower head is not centered over the carafe and it hits one side of the coffee bed unevenly. The Ratio Six was designed for its thermal carafe, which is offset with the coffee bed placed further back towards the reservoir. It is surprising that they sell this with a thermal carafe that it was not designed for. It makes bad cups. Their proprietary magnet detector that checks that you are using their carafe does not let you push the glass carafe into position so that it is centered. I finally got a magnet to trick it and move the carafe where it should be. It is a pain in the ____, but at least I can actually get decent coffee from it by hacking it. I also have to stir during the bloom phase or it does not come out as good. All-in-all I feel like I fell for a trap and got screwed paying way too much for a bad design. I can’t believe Ratio is selling this Glass Carafe configuration to people.”
“It’s beautiful. A design classic. The heavy metal reservoir lid is my favourite piece. Easy to use. Easy to consistently repeat. I’ll never bother making a hand pour-over again. I find with the Chemex paper and glass carafe, it brings out the sweetness in my dark roasts that most machines aren’t able to.”
“This is the best coffee maker I’ve ever had. From the first cup, it has been perfect. My only regret is that I didn’t order it sooner. I suffered many years with plastic tasting coffee from the cheap machines.
I now know what a great cup of coffee tastes like and will never settle for less.”
“The Ratio is built with quality components and has a substantial and modern look. No doubt it makes a good cup of coffee, and it heats coffee to the right temperature! I didn't care for the extra condensation that dripped around the sprayer, as some drops made it to the countertop. If it weren't for my Chemex Ottomatic, which is so simple to clean and has the Chemex glass brewer, I would have kept the ratio. The chemex has plastics and does not have the build quality of the Ratio, but it does brew a great cup of coffee also.”
