“I’ve had two different lids for my original carafe. The second was slightly better but not great. Still very leaky. I just purchased this new carafe and was less than impressed. The lid should lock in place to close. But it only locks in place for a (heavy) pour. I think I’m about ready to retire the whole coffee maker after giving it a very fair go.”
“Better than series 1 in several areas
- easier to get on and off
- water does not get trapped in the hollow plastic shell
- pours better
The pouring is still not perfect though. The last few ounces do not pour out very easily or neatly”
“I purchased the Ratio Six Thermal Carafe (Series 2) to replace my Series 1 carafe. The Series 2 carafe is far superior to the Series 1 carafe. On the Series 1 carafe, I had issues with it leaking, dripping/pouring down the outside of the carafe, the lid filling with coffee, and it was challenging to clean. The Series 2 version has mostly solved these issues. The only problem I have with the Series 2 carafe is when there is little coffee left and the lid is on, the coffee sometimes "jumps" out missing the cup or mug that I am pouring into, however removing the lid for the last amount prevents this issue.”
“Thermal qualities are good and the carafe looks great. Lid is easy to use and pours well. However, with smaller amounts of coffee in the carafe there’s a section of the lid at the opening of the pour spout that will create a split pour of coffee. This is because the lid has a piece of plastic/gasket that sits in the flow of coffee out of the carafe. The spilt pour can be messy if you’re not careful. If you can ensure the lid does not obstruct flow of coffee, this carafe will be really great and worthy of more stars. I still prefer this lid to the original design. Clean up is much easier. Thanks”
“It's far better than the last model. But, it's pricey for a carafe that still can't pour cleanly. Unlike the last version, it doesn't drip down the sides and make a giant mess; it's just a splashy pour. You can remedy this by taking off the lid for your pour. I probably would have given this three stars if the price point was lower.”
“I had high expectations and excitement for this! While the new lid is very nice, the design is very disappointing. After a week of use, the handle is loose on the body of the carafe. And water seems to be stuck in the walls. This is frustrating as the carafe is brand new and I take care to only hand wash it.
My gen 1 carafe started to have water get trapped after a wash but that was after 3 years of use. This is a new design and should feel sturdy and leak proof, especially at the high price. I am very disappointed.”

“As the owner of the original Series 1 Carafe, this is a needed upgrade. Functionally, it solves all of the problems of the first carafe. The pour spout is much improved so it has not dripped AT ALL. Usually after I pour I have a little puddle of coffee to wipe up on my counter. Now it is honestly the best pouring experience of all the carafes that I have tried. I love the new design of the lid. I think it looks cleaner, water doesn't get stuck in the air cavity (because there is none) and there's no lever or mechanisms to fiddle with. I was worried that it would lose heat faster because it is essencially just an open hole but I have not found that to be the case. If anything, I've notice this carafe to keep things warmer for longer. Even if you opt for the Series 1 brewer, this is a required upgrade, in my opinion.”
