For what it is, the thing is enormous. I should’ve paid closer attention to the dimensions. I knew it was taller than my old drip coffee machine, but I didn’t expect it to be larger in every dimension. I understand that the goal is probably for the Ratio Eight to be the center of attention for the kitchen. I wish it were a little less pronounced. Further, because there’s no place to put the conical, metal filter, pouring the coffee after it’s brewed is a circus. I stare at it, waiting for the drops to slow down (so as not to waste the precious brew), but if I remove it too late, the coffee is already cold because the glass carafe holds the heat for all of five minutes. Once I’ve removed the filter, I can’t set it down anywhere, so I’m running it over to the compost bin to try to rid it of the spent grinds. Now, I love how the carafe pours. It makes me feel very fancy, but if you forget that you’re fancy, you miss your mug entirely because the carafe projectile vomits the coffee several inches when your pour. My refurbished machine came damaged. I figure that’s part of the refurbishing deal. They offered to replace it, but I spend so much money on coffee when I don’t have a coffee machine, the replacement or repair wasn’t worth it to me. One thing that’s kind of cool is that the machine makes no noise. It’s cool because I can secretly make a brew when my family is asleep, but it’s also not cool because I have definitely forgotten to check on it and returned too late to find cold coffee. Also, don’t accidentally turn it on when there’s no water in it; just seems to never stop until you unplug it. I’m not sure if that’s dangerous or not. Speaking of filling it, there’s only two fill lines on the side of the water tank, and I have no idea how many ounces they delineate. I knew at one point, but it’s something easily forgotten once you get into the routine. My life doesn’t revolve around my coffee machine. What’s annoying about those marks, besides having 0 indication of volume, is that you can’t see them unless you bend over and practically lay your head in your counter. The structure of the coffee machine prevents you from seeing how full it is. I suspect they’re there for decoration. A true coffee aficionado would probably measure the exact amount of water before adding it to the machine. The machine, along with the Kone filter, makes an incredible brew. It is truly wonderful. All in all, I really dislike the machine, but I love what it produces. I’ll keep it, but I’ll probably never buy again nor recommend it.

Large! These machines really take up quite a bit a space. I'd love to see subsequent models shrunk by 20%.

It is brand new and I think they do this, so some of us can afford the best coffee machine on the planet. Thank you Ratio for being awesome and building a coffee machine that does it’s job every single cup.

Best coffee maker ever! Ordered a refurbished version and it came in perfect condition and works like a charm. This was a gift for my husband who is picky about his coffee and he says it makes the smoothest best tasting coffee he’s ever had. Also had a fantastic experience dealing with Rebecca on their customer service team since my order was on back order for several months. Thanks again for making such a beautiful and great product!
