“Ratio customer service goes above and beyond. I needed a replacement part for my eight and they made a custom order for me and shipped it super quick. I have tried just about every coffee machine there is. This is by far the best! It doesn't matter if I use a Kone filter or paper the coffee comes out superb. I have to invest in neck braces now because it's a real head turner! Ha”
“This is the best home coffee maker you could ask for. With the hand blown glass upgrade it is exactly what I have been looking for for years. A coffee maker that doesn't have all the plastic that all the other ones do. It's pricey but it's worth it.”

“My journey to producing excellent coffee at home started with the Technivorm Moccamaster coffee maker in back 2007. I upgraded to the Ratio 8 two years ago when it was first introduced and couldn't be more happy!
My original goal was to produce great coffee by tightly controlling temperature range, flow rate, and brew basket design. The Technivorm coffee maker controls this very well. Of course fresh, quality coffee beans, ground with a high quality burr grinder and good water quality is a starting point. The biggest weakness from my perspective was the very dated design language and many plastic parts.
When I first heard about the Ratio 8 coffee maker, I was amazed that coffee at home could get even better! The Ratio still controls temperature, flow, and has great brew basket design. What I like best, is a much improved shower head, glass tank, and a "bloom" cycle up front to thoroughly soak the coffee and start the bloom before brewing. That definitely improves the taste of the coffee. They added the ability to make less than a full pot of coffee without changing the coffee brewing profile which is handy for making half a pot.
In a nutshell, brewing high-end, restaurant-level coffee at home is finally possible and the look of the Ratio 8 is very nice in our kitchen. While expensive, the Ratio 8 is worth it if you love great coffee and the great looks.”
“I confess to being a coffee snob. I like my coffee done in a particular manner and for me the Ratio is the perfect machine. Before I bought my Ratio I prepared my coffee in the pour over style, one cup at a time. The results were great, but it was both fussy and because I didn't time my pour over times, inconsistent. Now I get results that are consistent and excellent every time. Well worth the price!”
“As a busy tech professional that travels nearly weekly, I cherish every morning that I am at home making my own cup of coffee. This machine has transformed what used to be a task into an experience. The crackling sound of the three-part brewing cycle, the instant aroma arising with the steam from the open shower head design, the visual treat of dark coffee trickling down the carafe. I find myself watching the coffee being brewed, in much the same way I would watch a barista making my pourover at a favorite SF coffee house.
Experiential aspect aside, the Ratio Eight makes a damn good cup of coffee. It is never over-extracted or unevenly brewed. I use an Able Cone filter for a more oily french-press-esque cup. With that I grind a bit more course than with a typical machine, and have found 52oz for a half batch (more than is recommended by Ratio's guide) suits my taste. With the glass carafe and the lack of a heated base (which would ruin the coffee), I tend to pour myself a mug and transfer the rest into an insulated carafe, which I use to refill my mug a few times before the morning is over. If I have guests I make a batch and pour immediately. If we want more, we simply make more.
In a world of over-automation, this is one aspect of my day that I want to remain somewhat manual. Not unlike a classic Porsche where the satisfying clank of the 5-speed will never grow old.”
