Ratio Eight Thermal Set Matte Black / Walnut Reviews

4.2 Rating 22 Reviews
This is a beautiful piece of equipment and it brews delicious coffee. I have a Ratio 6 that I have been very happy with, and I decided to treat myself to this beautiful machine. I love that the opening for the water is wide and that it has the thermal carafe option. I brew 40 oz of coffee at a time, and the water mark is not visible when standing and pouring the water; I have to squat down to see when I should stop pouring. The ceramic dripper gets very hot and is awkward to remove when the brewing is complete.

Seems poorly designed. I don't see the wood veneer lasting. Carafe doesn't keep coffee very warm. Took 4 months for delivery. Not a single piece of communication from the company. Would be overpriced at half the price.

Makes great coffee, but has a serious design flaw where sometimes bubbles form in the water tank and prevent the machine from starting. You have to shake the machine to get the bubble out before it will start. Given the price, I would expect no design flaws.

I love everything about it. My only comment/concern is that a full thermal carafe is not 40oz and does not quite reach the full fill line. I use my carafe to fill and it ends up about 1inch short of the full fill line.

You get what you pay for. I'm a beginner when it comes to home brewing but I knew I wanted to kick it up a notch. I upgraded from a simple Ninja drip coffee maker -- like something you would find at a department store. I decided to invest in a burr grinder (the Fellow Ode) and then saw how well these two machines looked side by side. I used to put a splash a cream in my coffee before getting the Ratio. I don't anymore. I love the fact that I'm able to drink coffee black and enjoy the taste of it. This hasn't been the case with my old drip machines. Other than the taste, the thing you'll notice right off the bat is the build quality of the machine. Time will tell if the Ratio will hold up, but it's clear as day that quality parts were used to construct this thing. Worth the investment.

The Ratio Eight is exactly what I expected it to be. The craftsmanship is beautiful. It's exciting to watch the brewing process and makes a great cup of coffee.
