“I am a long time Ratio customer and have already passed on the first (start-up, don’t know the #) ratio to my daughter and it is still working great. She accidentally my old glass carafe so I gave her my newer thermal carafe, et al. At any rate we are now a two-generation Ratio family and wouldn’t use anything else!! I used a coffee press while I waited for my replacement carafe and oh my … so happy to be complete again!”
“The handle and the carafe, no matter how hard I tighten, seem to always still leak. The carafe does not keep liquid warm like vacuum sealed carafes I've had in the past. If someone was asking, should they buy this, I would say no”
“With pour-over you always have a hot first cup and a warm last cup. The carafe keeps the coffee hot, it’s very pretty, it makes me happy to use it and it will last forever. It’s a treat.”
“I used a black-plastic coffee machine, the ones that are very common. Then I heard that these types of coffee-makkers are bad for your health. Chemicals from the plastic, including "forever" chemicals, leach into the water as the coffee is being brewed. I started to look for a new way to brew coffee, and decided on the "pour-over" method. I bought a little glass carafe. The taste was so much better! But I could only brew one cup at a time. I often work from home and like to sip my coffee as I'm working, but it was cold in just a few minutes. So I started a new search. I came across the Ratio thermal carafe. I was so excited when it arrived! I took a picture of it to put on social media for all my friends to admire, and they did. The next morning I made coffee. It was delicious! But the carafe doesn't keep it warm for more than 10-15 minutes. It's really not much better than the glass carafe, but costs about twice as much. So, if you are looking for a very cute pot, this is the one for you. But if you are looking for a thermal coffee pot that will keep your coffee warm, this is not it. Also, it is very heavy. It's as heavy as my stainless steel pans that are much larger. Makes me wonder if there are other things in there besides stainless steel.”
