About Red Paddle Co:

Once upon a board, Red Paddle Co-founder, John Hibbard, realised there might be a better way of doing things. It was 2008 and paddleboarding was just getting going. As he paddled along on a heavy composite SUP, he had this crazy idea that it could be made better with an inflatable board.

It wasn’t just a hunch either. Having spent over a decade as a full-time, sponsored competitor on the professional windsurfing world tour, John was getting pretty weary of pleading with, and generally avoiding airline check-in staff due to the mountain of cumbersome windsurfing kit required for his numerous international trips (it was tough, but someone had to do it!). A problem, he realised, that every paddleboarder the world over would have to face if they wanted to travel anywhere with their standard hard board.

The hype is real - I read great reviews and I’d add to them. Stylish & functional.

Excellent quality, keeps our water cold for hours while sipping from it. Nice that they fit in the bag so handy.

The stainless steel bottle itself is good, but the sport cap it comes with is the most awful sports cap I have ever used. It is worse than cheap ones that you might find on a basic free promotional plastic bottle. The stainless steel bottle itself is excellent. It retains heat and cold. With respect to heat, it might be too good. I have used it both with water and apple cider. The sport cap has very bad design flaws. The biggest being the stream of water. The way that the water comes out of it 80% of the time you are going to end up choking on your water. It doesn't come out as a nice stream. It requires sucking, the cap pushes down, etc. This bottle would benefit from an improved cap design whether it be the same style and better quality or a flip top. The thing is that you need a sport cap. It is much easier to be paddling and grab your bottle with one hand and suck it out. The other issue with the cap is that the type of plastic it is made out of retains flavour and smells - fairly quickly and there will be buildup on the cap. I A quick rinse will not suffice in cleaning it out in the absence of being able to be home with a bottle brush to do it properly. I will probably not use the sport cap with added electrolytes again or other cold beverages other than water.
