Description
Natural sisal twine is an excellent, eco-friendly twine for tree farms, industrial tying and wrapping, packaging, decorations, and arts and crafts. It is a smooth, easy to use twine with excellent knotting properties, with low stretch, and is generally safe for animals.
This strong, biodegradable twine is available in 1-ply, 2-ply and 3-ply sizing. Each individual twisted ply is the same size, and measures just over ⅛”. The 2-ply variety has two, ⅛” plies twisted together and the 3-ply has three ⅛” plies twisted together. Each of the three varieties comes in a 10-pound, center-pull carton. One-ply has about 3000’ per 10# carton, two-ply has about 1470’ per carton and three-ply has about 970’ per carton. The tensile strength of a knot is roughly 50% of the listed breaking strength.
Sisal is a natural plant fiber extracted from the leaves of a sisal plant (Agave sisalana) and imported from Brazil. Sisal is a moderate strength twine with excellent grip in the hands. Our sisal twine has a pleasant, natural smell. It is a grassy, earthy smell that is not off-putting. It is a great choice for indoor use, and is not treated with any chemicals or preservatives. It is also preferred in many outdoor applications because it is biodegradable and will deteriorate quickly with exposure to the elements, saving the labor of having to remove it.
