Boatman Boardshorts 17" - Light Army Light Army / 32 Reviews

Great boardshorts! They dry quick and stretch where you need them to. The extra pocket is convenient as well. I just wish they came in a 19 inch length, I’m tall and my knees get chewed up when I’m surfing.

I live in Hawaii and work part time as a sailing instructor. I generally wear boardshorts most days and beat the crap out of them. I just got my first pair of boatmans and they feel great. I'm 6'1, 200lbs, more of an athletic vs. surfer build. Everything else of mine is a 33 waist, which is what I got here too, but these feel a tad tight, but they might loosen up and it's not a deal killer at all. They definitely feel more robust than other boardies I have, especially in the seat. Length is good, wouldn't want it any shorter. Only other thing to note is they aren't as stretchy as other 4 way stretch boardshorts, which is both a pro/con. In certain positions while working on boats I wished they had a little more stretch, but when all my other shorts have major amounts of stretch, the durability and look of these are well worth the slightly less stretch. Definitely worth adding these to your collection.

Best board-shorts I have owned, and I have owned many. Cordura on the butt feel like these will last a long time and the material on the top is good for movement. Pockets are great for keys or phone or wallet.

Just got back from two weeks on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Didn't need any other pants I packed because I wound up wearing my Boatman Boardshorts every day. Hiking, swimming, ziplining, rock scrambling, kayaking, you name it: these shorts were comfortable, quick-drying, and withstood everything I threw at them. I was nervous hiking 10 very hot km in what is essentially a bathing suit, but the boardshorts proved airy enough (and no chafing!). I was also nervous buying the 18" as opposed to the 19" shorts, but I've really grown to like the length.

These boatman are no kidding tough as nails. Heading down to the dock on the bike at night and having the wheel turn 90 and doing the Superman into crushed granite I can tell you that these shorts have nary a scratch (two contact points—forearm and hip) Yes, the hip below all cut up and bruised (the forearm took a 1/4 tube of superglue to put back together). When I tell you not a blemish on the shorts it’s the truth. Now my boatman’s have serious competition: the other pair I just bought. These will last far longer than anything in my closet. @Roark: make that side pocket big enough for a phone and there won’t be another pair of board shorts in my closet.
