“I bought this in a medium for my son for Christmas. It’s a good quality jacket, but he returned it for a large.
He loves it. He usually wears a medium in jackets, but we found this one to be too short in length and a little too snug across the shoulders.
He’s pleased with the large.”
“The fact that they did a collab jacket with Harris Tweed is amazing. Buy the jacket just for that. The fabric is incredible. I can’t stress that enough. I think the Axeman style is really cool also. It’s not too trendy but different enough from the classic style that it has its own flair of a statement piece. Very warm. I live in Nashville and it’s wonderful. On to a some of the not as perfect things. The sizing was a little weird. Or my body is weird. Or both. I’m 6’3” slim build. My shoulders aren’t super broad but I’m not a twig. The way the sleeve and shoulders are constructed makes the top end of the shoulder stitch drop slightly below the edge of my shoulder and also have some excess fabric under near the shoulder. I don’t think the design was intended to be a drop shoulder. It seems more just a odd way the sleeve was sewn on that didn’t work perfect on my body. The overall width of the jacket was a little wider than I wanted. But that’s totally just my body type and jacket style. Also the top 2 clasps are pretty cool. But I’m worried about how they will wear over time. One of the clasps already feels a little loose to open and close. They aren’t super dense heavy metal either. Might need to be replaced in the years to come. Worries me being able to gave that repair done with it being such a speciality thing. The jacket will outlive those clasps by a century.
As far as the fit is concerned I decided in the store to buy the large and take it to a tailor. I loved the jacket so much it’s worth the time to get it right because there’s nothing like it. There are 2 stitched seems alone both sides for the purpose of alterations so I think a tailor can easily bring in the width. Hopefully the shoulders can be altered slightly without too much trouble. People seem to forget that clothes aren’t always going to fit off the rack and that’s ok. Tailoring something to your body can make it truly yours. And this jacket is the kind of garment worth it. The only knock on Roark here is those clasps. Really should be denser heavier metal. I need to feel like they can withstand a nuclear blast. Rating is still 5 stars because the clasps haven’t broken yet.”
“Fits great and is quite warm. My only issue is that the pockets are a bit small and the shallow angle has caused my phone to fall out a couple times. I'll happily soldier on as it really is a beautiful jacket and I've received quite a few pleasant compliments.”
