“Bought a Stompa Daybed with 2 x mattresses from Room to Grow and it turned out to have a manufacturing fault/design flaw (mattresses are too small for the bed frame - around 5cm gap).
I have been talking to Room to Grow for over a month and they insist this is a reasonable gap and below are extracts of Room to Grow response.
"A little extra room is allowed round the edge to enable you to change the bedding easily"
"Stompa's technical team have looked at your videos and your photographs and do say this is as expected"
I am appalled that although I have given Room to Grow the opportunity to put this right and provide me with 2 x mattresses that fit the bed frame, they have not been able to do so despite sending me a couple more mattresses which again turned out to be significantly smaller than then bed frame.
Contacted Room to Grow once more to inform them that if they cannot provide me with mattresses that fit the bed it clearly shows a manufacturing fault/design flaw and I am requesting a full refund of the the amount paid.
Room to Grow's response is that a refund will be provided, so long as I disassemble the bed despite paying for assembly which it was supposed to be carried out when goods where delivered but it did not happen as it was not stated in the deliveryman's paperwork).
This whole situation has been caused by a manufacturing fault/design flaw rather than any fault of mine, and has already taken up a lot of my time. I would appreciate this being resolved promptly, because besides the aesthetic, the bed with the mattresses as they are is actually hazardous. The room the bed is in is a children's playroom (I am a childminder) and it is only a matter of time before one of the children loses a toy in that gap and gets injured or trapped while trying to retrieve it.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods should be of a satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. My rights have been breached because the item they sold me is faulty/doesn't match the description and I only need to make the goods available for collection which is.
Very disappointing that this company keeps deleting my reviews.”
We are sorry you are unhappy with your purchase, we can assure you all Stompa beds are tested to EN747. Regarding the mattresses, there is always a degree of tolerance so the mattresses should not be tight against the bed frame. As already agreed we will issue you a full refund as you are unhappy with the product. We are just looking at solutions to collect the bed and mattresses from you and the team will email you directly to resolve this. Best wishes RTG
