Evergoods Civic Panel Loader 16L Reviews

First review here - quite significant since I’ve spent a yearly part-time salary on gear at RF over the years. I owned and loved the CPL24 V1 and V2, but the size made it cumbersome and confusing to use daily - almost like I was doing it an injustice by not filling it all the way up. The CPL16 forces you to be more considered, but holds more than it appears to and provides easy access to your items. Comfortable and efficient, design language carries over from CPL24 and 840d solution-dyed material is beautiful and easy to clean. Absolute winner.

This is a great little bag. I have only had it for a few days, but it has already gone with me onto the plane and for some adventures. For those on the fence about the size - as always with Evergoods, you seem to be able to get more into this bag than the 16L implies. It simply takes all of the features of the CPL24 and compacts it down into a mini format. I'm still able to use it as my EDC though - it comfortably fits a water bottle, CAP2, light jumper, compression pants for running, my lunchbox container and my Sony XM5s in their case. All of that is in the main compartment, then in the front organisational pocket I've got a CAP1, pens, change etc. Internal top pocket is for my medicines, the mesh pocket underneath easily fits e.g. some post-run shorts. And finally, the top yoke pocket is so satisfyingly deep, and contains the key leash, which is also sturdy. Oh! How could I forget - the laptop compartment has made a comeback, and it works just as perfectly as the original on the CPL24. It doesn't appear to be much smaller, in any event, it easily takes my Macbook Air M2. On the whole, I was worried that this bag would be too small for my EDC needs, but it has proven itself to be a great companion every day. Would I do outdoors-based activities with it? Probably not, but for that I have my MPL22 in Ecopak. Either way, for me at least, this now means I don't have to cart around a bigger bag that is half empty. This one snuggly fits all that I need - so I would say - just go for it. Plus the returns process is so simple, if you decide the bag is too small for you, thank you Rushfaster! In terms of how it fits, the harness straps seem to be as wide as on the original CPL24, if that is worrying you, and on my frame, at 6'2", it doesn't look particularly awkward or undersized. I can't feel it digging into my back, and it has been very comfortable to carry, including on long walks with a fairly heavy load. Another win from Evergoods. I have attached a photo comparing the size of my black CPL16 and my Ecopak coyote CPL24.
