About SAMi The Sleep Activity Monitor:

SAMi® is a video-based sleep activity monitor for parents, caregivers and individuals that need to watch carefully for unusual movements at night. SAMi can detect and alarm on all types of movement, with settings that can be easily customized to your individual needs. During sleep, the SAMi camera's proprietary technology monitors for unusual or abnormal movement in the field of view. When abnormal movement is detected, an alarm sounds on the Apple device running the SAMi iOS app (iPhone / iPod / iPad / Mac) and displays a live video / audio feed. Within seconds, the individual or caregiver can take any necessary action. SAMi will not only reliably alert you to abnormal movement, but automatically records high quality video and audio of the event, providing invaluable video evidence for Neurologists, Epileptologists, and other Healthcare providers to accurately diagnose and prescribe effective treatment plans. For more information, visit SAMi’s website at www.samialert.com.

We love the SAMI so much! We have had it for about a year now and don't know how we did life without it. I wasn't ever sleeping because of being so scared and concerned that my daughter would have a seizure in her sleep and never know it. This system definitely lets me sleep better.

We recently purchased this device after being scared for so long for our son to go in his own room. He has nocturnal seizures and we’ve kept him in our room because of it. This helps us have some peace of mind knowing we will be alerted if something were to happen. My only issue with it is there is a delay with the video.

My son's seizures are rare but a few times they occured during the night before we had figured out the amount of meds he needed to prevent breakthrough seizures. We were able to record the seizure and show his doctor which was very helpful. He moves a lot durimg the night so we had to reduce alarm threshold but still can hear and see him clearly and if an event occurs we have record of it. I feel like it gives us peace and security knowing we can look back on it as a tool and adjust sound and thresholds depending on whether he has a virus. Luckily, he has been seizure free ever since his dr figured out the right dosage, but the set up is always there and running aa needed. My favorite part about the system is that it is,internet free and runs on its own closed wireless system independent of any internet. It makes me feel like he has privacy bevause internet is not needed.

My son was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 5. In 2019 we took the kids to Sandusky Ohio to an indoor water park for the weekend. This trip was going to be a great weekend and it turned in my worse nightmare. While trying to get our baby to sleep I noticed my son shaking. I asked him to hold still.. I rolled over and he was sound asleep having a seizure. He turned blue wasn’t breathing shaking and not responsive… I was terrified, my husband called 911. We had him transported to the local hospital, where he then had another seizure with me laying in the hospital bed with him. The doctors rushed in and was talking to us like nothing was happening. I said please help my son. They then started to go over seizures and how we need to wait to see how long he stayed seizing and when to use the rescue meds… to make a long story short he ended up having epilepsy, he has probably had many seizures before we caught this. I was unable to sleep, since this happens in his sleep. That’s when I reached out to the Chelsea Hutchinson Foundation. They helped me get the Sami camera set up but also talked to me a lot about his seizures and was there for support. Because of the help and support from these folks I was able to sleep more and live somewhat of a normal life. I rest easier knowing I hat I also have something that is going to alarm waking me up if seizure like motion is detected. Thanks so much I am so very grateful for this foundation. I know try to bring awareness to all the warriors still fighting this battle and for the ones who lost it.

My daughter was diagnosed with Dravet Syndroma last year and have been having seizures at night and I could never sleep for fear that she would have one and I wouldn’t know it. Now, I can sleep with ease knowing that an alarm will go off with any movement. You can control the sensitivity of it and it’s been amazing. Couldn’t recommend it more
