“I searched on Google for "pineapple extract" and this McCormick came up, and it is labeled as extract on this website. But AFTER I had opened and measured it into my recipe, I noticed it smelled like chemicals. And only then I read that it is just artificial pineapple flavoring. A real extract is the real thing, not artificial! It tasted nasty on its own, but did end up giving the carrot cake a subtle pineapple flavor. I could taste the faint chemical flavor too, but I'm really sensitive to these things, and I already knew it was in there. Other people thought the cake tasted great. So if you don't have a big issue with artificial flavoring, it'll work in your recipe. But if you are looking for real pineapple extract, this isn't it!”
