“Fantastic Day. We were able to make arrangements withthe tour company for an airport pick up as we only had one day in Sao Miguel. The van and driver were clearly marked and on time.
Once we got to the marina and completed the orientation, it was determined that I could not go out on the boatbecause of the water condition and a pre-existing medical condition. Even though I was extremely disappointed, I have to commend the staff for how they handled the situaiton. They were extremely respectful and professional. They also arranged to refund both mine and my husbands whale watching portion of the day. The rest of our party went out on the water and were fortunate to see not one but 2 blue whales among other things. Sanne was the guide and her love for the animals and enthusiasm was geniune and contagious. After the whale watching we drove up the volcano to see the view form the highest point on the island. Sanne was knowledgeable about the conservation and sustainability efforts of the island and answered all our questions. We carried on to the hot springs where we soaked for an hour. It's worth noting that the pools are not large and you share with several people so it's not very private. We then drove down the volcano to the north beach to watch the surfers take on some of the best swells in the Azores. The tour operator dropped us off at our hotel in nearby Ponta Delgada. We only had a 1 day stopover in the Azores and I can't imagine a better way to spend it.”
