“I bought 5 blue gelato seeds last season, put them in water, the same time as the freebie seeds I got, I then transferred both groups of seeds to the wet paper and plates method,I put the 2 varieties in separate doubled plates, and put both varieties in a dark warm cupboard,The freebies had tails after 2 days, I potted these out and they got going only one becoming a runt and not making it, The blue Gelatos took 5 days with only 3 showing small week tails, I planted the 3 with tails, and binned the other 2 that had done nothing. 2 of the three with tails produced green leaves, Then finally only 1 got growing the other wilted and called it a day.
Not being disheartened I ordered 5 Gelatos this season, and got some freebies so I started the process again, all my Jack herrer and blueberry freebies all came through , of my blue gelatos , exactly the same to the previous lot, 2 hand tales in germination, 1 has grown to a seedling, the other nothing, and 3 thrown out for not germinating.
