“I have run this black sugar strain, aka black sugar rose, both indoors and outdoors successfully. She is very strong, and not very demanding. Outdoors, planted in a "bottomless" garden bed, she grew to about 6 foot tall, and the yeild was heavy. Quality was fantastic, one of the 2 best of about 8 strains run that year. Very heavy resin production. I grow outdoors in the far northeastern US, and her early finishing time was perfect for this climate. She finished with plenty of time left, before the wet, rainy weather set in. She grows in extremely thick, bushy. I would recommend pruning a good bit of the inner leaves to get better sunlight to the bud sites, but don't remove more than 30% total of your fan leaves, or she won't be happy! She held up really well against mold and pests, with really no issues to mention.
Indoors, she does just as well, if not better! Again, she fills in very thick, so I'd recommend thinning out the larger, inner fan leaves when going into flower. She stays relatively short indoor, growing only as big as her pot allows. In a 2gal pot, she reached a height of about 2ft. She stays relatively compact, so she doesn't take over your room. Yeild, again, is fantastic for the amount of space she requires. Very heavy resin production both indoors and out. Her scent is very different, and hard to accurately describe. Yes it's fruity, but not a berry fruity. I would almost compare it to fermenting fruit, but not quite. There are also definite hints of floral scent, which is why some call her black sugar rose. It's not a bad smell by any measure, just different from most. Smoke is very smooth, slightly fruity, slightly kushy. Flowers/buds are extremely dense, rock like, which helps add weight to end results. Very, very frosty...even outdoors with minimal nutrient supply (doesn't mean she can be ignored, but she's not demanding).
As far as cloning goes, she's one of the strongest I've come across. That comes from experience of taking thousands of clones from probably close to 75 different strains. She clones very well, very strong healthy clones, almost always root. She is a noticeably strong cloner in my opinion.
Overall, I rate her an excellent strain, heavy producer, guaranteed to be in my garden for a while! And it's rare that anything see a 2nd year in my outdoor garden unless it had fantastic results the year before, and she fits! In fact I'll be running several of her, instead of the one last year. I would say she's an excellent choice for beginners outdoor, due to her resistance to pests/mold, heavy production, and forgiving nature. If you're looking for something to start out with, and still get pretty great results, she should be on your list!
The only negatives I can think of would be personal preference type things, such as the buds being very hard and dense, and the scent possibly not being exactly what people expect. Again, she doesn't smell bad, she's very pungent, just a different scent that isn't your average skunky, kushy stink. As I said, more of a cementing fruit, floral-ish scent, but that's only my opinion. Considering the only negatives I can think of are very basic, preference related, I would very much suggest giving her a run! Hopefully this has been helpful in narrowing down some options. If you're looking for a solid, heavy producing strain that does really well in northern/colder climates and finishes in Sept, this is your girl!
Hope this has been good info for you, as I always like to get the best, most detailed info I can when choosing which, of hundreds or thousands options to choose from, which to ultimately go with! Good luck, and happy growing! ✌️”
