I installed these anchors in a parking lot. I had to drill three 5/8 inch diameter holes per anchor through the asphalt before I could drive the anchor in. Be prepared to spend time an effort driving the anchors. I could drive the anchors down about 8 inches, however this was more than enough. My structure is well secured.

I purchased two sets (x8) of these anchors for my newly installed Shelterlogic #74442 unit. Of the 5 I've installed so far the hook's spot weld on the strap side failed while I was cinching down the ratchet and on another the cable swedge failed while cinching the ratchet, causing the cable to pull out of the ground and leave the anchor buried 2 feet in the ground. I should note these failures occurred while "setting" the anchor, not setting final tension. The other three so far installed have had no issues. The ground in my area is fairly rocky and required the use of a sledge to set the anchors properly. After the second anchor was set the rod supplied began to mushroom at the anchor making it nearly impossible to remove once set. I ground a bevel on the rod end and was able to set the other three without issue using the same rod. Assuming no further issues with the three left I will have 6 of the 8 anchors I purchased hold down my shelter. When they work they seem to work quite well. My only suggestion is to add some waterproof heavy duty lubricant to the ratchets (including the shelter's ratchets) to prevent seizing of the ratchets due to corrosion from the elements. If you ever have to take it down you'll be glad you did.

The crimps on the cables gave out when I ratcheted the strap tight. I wasn't reefing on it either. Also, the bar that they give you to set the anchors in lasts about 1 anchor and then you're out of luck. The ground wasn't very hard, but the bar is just garbage. I ended up going to the hardware store and getting a better bar, which then worked to set all of the other anchors. They sent me another pack, of which several more failed.

Hello, These anchors are designed to anchor our shelters down by attaching them to a hole in the leg and then into the ground. In order for these anchors to properly work, it requires tension on the ratchet strap. We are sorry to hear that these did not work for your application. Thank you,Customer Service,Danielle

I bought this set about 3 months ago for a greenhouse and it has been great. We have had several really windy & stormy days. They have not stretched a bit. I could not be happier. They are a great product.
