Garage-in-a-Box RoundTop® 12 ft. x 20 ft. x 8 ft. Reviews

2.1 Rating 63 Reviews
I bought two of these (12x20x10) and both fabric covers ripped 1.5 years in, destroying $100's worth of items. Reps response is typically "this model is not live load rated, as mentioned in the manual. ". Well duh, we don't get to read the manual before we buy it. The anchors don't hold when the spring thaw comes and the ground is muddy. I had one fly across the field. I am going to use the frame and screw greenhouse panels to them to create greenhouses. Otherwise, these are useless after the first winter.. they won't survive a second winter.

Hello, We are sorry to see you feel this way. Aside from having this disclaimer in your manual it is also labeled on the box "This product is not rated for snow, ice, or high winds.Shelter must be securely anchored." We also recommend purchasing the proper anchors for the specific terrain you are installing this shelter on. If you would like to discuss in more detail please feel free to call us at 1-800-932-9344. I have had mine installed for approx 4 months. Plenty of room inside. Here is the problem: If you live in an environment like I do you will be disappointed. It is very sunny and extremely hot (102-109) every day for months. The top of my unit is ripping down the center pretty badly. I have had to put a heavy duty silver topped tarp over the top. Don't know if that will cure the problem but I am trying it. If you live in an area like mine (deep south Texas, this is not a good building.

We are very sorry to see that you are not completely satisfied with your cover. Fabric life is affected by application, location and the physical elements the shelter is exposed to. Our standard covers have a one year warranty and if you are within that time period and something goes wrong we suggest filing a warranty claim and having it reviewed by a representative in the corresponding department. We also offer many replacement cover options, including heavier materials that may have longer warranties and life expectancies. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to call us at 1-800-932-9344. http://www.shelterlogic.com/support/forms/warranty-claim/ , Customer Service

I bought 18 months ago. Within 6 months the cover started leaking over each if the bars. Winter came and it has rips already. Contents are ruined again. This is the second and last one I will ever own. First one was a peaked roof and it collapsed from the snow, so I got a round roof thus time and it didn't last any longer. Very disappointed with these. $800 spent and lost thousands of dollars in possessions.

Hi Debra, We are very sorry to see you feel this way.. Unfortunately, this canopy is not live load rated and it does list in the manual that this temporary shelter should be taken down in inclement weather conditions. We do offer wind and snow rated covers in a size very similar to this one which may better suit your needs. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we would love to further discuss your options with you. Please give us a call at 1-800-932-9344. Thank you ,Customer Service,Debora

Shelter Logic does not stand behind their products. We have owned 2.... both ripped right down the seam 1.5 yrs after buying it. We were told it was outside the 1yr warranty and that we should buy the heavy duty one next time. ABSOLUTE junk!!! Do not waste your money. They are difficult to assemble and the zippers are junk.

Hi Sarah, We are very sorry to hear about this. Our warranty process provides us with enough information to review every claim fairly and consistently. It is outlined that the temporary covers only have a one year warranty. We provide the best quality product at the best price possible. If you are using this for a more permanent application then an upgraded cover is in your best interest. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please feel free to call us at 1-800-932-9344. I bought this a few years ago, and within a couple of years, holes and rips started appearing. I did not purchase the heavy duty cover, and now just 5 years later, the cover has torn on the top in 3 places to the point where I now have to purchase a plastic tarp to cover the large rips so my Corvette will remain protected. The steel components provided are excellent quality - just too bad the cover wasn't made as well.

I moved in 2015 and bought 2 cheap harbor freight tools 10x17 portable garages for temporary storage ($179). They lasted 2+ years and 2 winters. When they failed, I decided to invest in a better quality Shelter Logic one (didn't need 2) so I purchased this for something close to $600. It did not even make one year - and only part of a winter (not a particularly bad or windy one). Came home today to this. Quite disappointed. So much for the higher quality - expected it to outlast the cheapo ones - not last 1/2 as long. This one actually started showing wear within a month. Now I'm trying to strap tarps across it to protect my belongings because there is no way to erect something better mid January.

Wanted temporary storage for my Kubota Tractor for this winter. Anchored the four corners but 15 mph winds shifted things. Pounded in 4’ rebar and ran ratchet straps to further solidify it. Today my Wife and I had to pull it off our above ground pool as 30mph winds sent to the next town over. It took out my weather station, and pryed up the pools metal lip and gashed the liner on its way out of town. I should have rented a metal PODS box for the winter. I would not recommend these structures to people who have open areas or high winds.
