“"These sheds are not rated for use in Florida". This is from the manufacturer. Why are they for sale in Florida? Lowes buys them from logic so Lowes is to blame for sale in Florida,
Nothing lined up to start and after at least 1/2 dozen emails upon which I was asked to submit photos and measurements of EVERY PEICE and then still drilling holes to make it work anchoring down on a solid foundation it still fell apart before the last panel went on. My husband was inside on a ladder putting on one of the final roof pieces and a sudden strong wind came out of nowhere. It lifted the entire shed with him inside did a half roll and collapsed on top of him. this was after two months of weekends to get it this far. My husband buys heavy haulers for a living. I have never seen a project be more of a pain in the.... and then just collapse. we even purchased heavy self-tapping screws to accommodate the holes not lining up. The company after again several emails sent a replacement, we sold it,.. I decided to just get payments on a real shed. NEVER AGAIN
In the end, we lost 300 on the shed selling the replacement under our cost and lost a few hundred in foundation materials that became damaged. The worst though was the many weekends lost and the stress it created in our home”
Hello Heather,
We are sorry to hear about this! Yes, in the State of Florida, a permit is required to install a shed due to hurricane season and code standards. To meet Florida building codes, you will need to obtain an engineering drawing and meet the Wind-load rating. To do so, one must have Hurricane concrete anchors to anchor the shed into a concrete base and purchase a Beef-up Kit to reinforce the arrow shed. Of course, every county across the nation has different regulations, and due to this variance, we recommend visiting your Town Hall and requesting a copy of their guidelines. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-851-1085 (press 1).
Thank you
“The delivery was promised by both Arrow and the delivery company to call me before dropping off the shed. I found it lying on the driveway when I got home from a weekend trip. NOT cool. Big problem for getting the 300 lb. box into our garage and out of rain. I have built two homes and do my own remodeling so I am competent in building projects. Still the set up is not easy and requires at least two adults. An awl (tool) is helpful to line up some holes and yes a perfectly level foundation is nice, but even with that every part is not perfectly aligned. The instructions are about 96% clear and complete. Expect to study the directions and follow them, improvise when parts do not match.”
“This building is being utilized in a Municipal Shelter to store food for animals. It is anchored to the concrete and sealed at the base. It is quite spacious, and the doors slide quite easily. It is sturdy and should do great with the winds we get in the area. Our shed does have the heavy duty roofing. The food will now be safe from "uninvited critters." It went up in a day with a crew of 4 volunteers. We love the size and access is easy. I will serve us well for many years to come!”
