“I don't care for corded heating pads due to EMF concerns. What I liked about this one was that it's battery powered (no cords or bluetooth). Also, while it claims to produce infrared (which is inherently high EMF unless there's a shield), it looks like the way it does this is by heating up tourmaline beads, which also (supposedly) generate negative ions when heated. I can't find any sources I'd totally trust to back up this claim, but in theory, negative ions are the anti-EMF, much like forest bathing, grounding, etc. There aren't too many things I know of besides getting into nature that do this, so that's a potential plus--if it's true.Otherwise, the biggest surprise to me was that it's only the small segment that fits against the base of the neck that is heated. The rest is just extra fabric. That's fine if you're only looking for something to heat the neck, and wouldn't need it on, say, a hip or an abdomen, but it's not as versatile because of this. Then again, this should have been obvious from the picture, where it showed the area of heating.The product came partially charged so that I could try it right away. Operation was quite straightforward.”
“I have chronic neck pain from stenosis, arthritis, etc. This reduces the pain from driving and moving about; and the beads allow the heat to penetrate much deeper than a traditional heating pad. I like that it looks like a plain neck scarf (although it might garner a few strange looks come summer :-) ). On high heat, it will penetrate through clothing, it becomes too hot on bare skin after a while, I end up cycling between medium and high. The reason for only four stars is that it could use more of the beads: both to hold in place and to distribute heat more widely. I purchased a $20 10k mAh Anker power bank to swap out with the one provided, so I can charge one while using the other.”
