Two gel packs are included, so when the first one warms up, I switch to the second one. Each gel pack stays cold for about 30 minutes. The cold does seem to relieve my back pain better than heat. However, keep in mind that the gel packs can also be heated in the microwave if heat works better on your back. Great product and so easy to use!!”
