"Vivid, stylish, atmospheric" – The Hollywood Reporter
When a group of teenagers inadvertently kill his only son, Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen, Aliens) seeks the powers of a backwoods witch to bring the child back to life. But instead, she invokes "the pumpkinhead" – a monstrously clawed demon which, once reborn, answers only to Ed's bloodlust. But as the creature wreaks its slow, unspeakable tortures on the teens, Ed confronts a horrifying secret about his connection to the beast – and realizes that he must find a way to stop its deadly mission before he becomes one with the creature forever. Also starring Jeff East (Deadly Blessing), Joel Hoffman (Slumber Party Massacre II) and Kerry Remsen (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge), this "atmospheric, moralistic tale" (TV Guide) delivers demonic horror at its blood-drenched best.

Stan Winston, legendary effects artist of such films as Aliens and Terminator is now in the directors chair for what i belive is his only directing ever. He delivers one of the greatest horror villians/creatures and one of the most gothic and chillingl creepy films in a decade which seemed to be filled to the brim with mindless slasher films. Pumpkinhead is another personal favorite of mine as far as 80's horror films go. It's darklhy smart and creepy in all of the right ways. The acting is superb and truly original. Lance Henreksen's performance as the damned soul Ed Harley is both poinent and chilling. The effects, handled by Tom Woodruff Jr. and Alec Gillis are stupendous and jarring. This all adds to Pumpkinhead being one of the best genre films to come out of the late 80's. Two-Claws Up!
