He's a 400-year-old virgin who wants to rock all night!
Ralph (Dean Cameron, Summer School) is just your typical, average vampire with love in his heart, music in his veins — and a curse on his head. Every 22 years, poor Ralph is doomed to lose his soulmate, Mona, at the hands of a rhinestone-peg-legged pirate brandishing a large hambone. But this time around, with the help of his newly-formed band Rockula, Ralph is determined to crush the curse once and for all — and show Mona that when you're a vampire, true love is eternal ... and rock 'n' roll never dies.
Directed by Luca Bercovici (Ghoulies) and featuring an eclectic cast of co-stars, including cult favorite Susan Tyrrell (Forbidden Zone) and recording stars Thomas Dolby, Toni Basil, and Bo Diddley, Rockula is an absolutely batty, bloody and bizarre comedy!

This is possibly the most important Blu-ray release ever. A movie that was never properly released to begin with (the studio folded shortly after wrapping) has become an unlikely cult classic. Till recently the movie was only available through a very limited release on VHS and an even more limited laserdisc release. I saw it for the first time streaming on Amazon a few years ago and instantly fell in love with it. I was SHOCKED when I discovered there had never been even a DVD released, let alone a Blu-ray. Poke around the internet for reactions to the film and you'll find that of those few who have seen it, the vast majority LOVE it, and of those, several are absolutely bonkers about it. There is a magical quality to Rockula that is hard to define but once experienced is profoundly contagious. I have made it one of my personal missions in life to get as many people as I can to see it. Why? Seems like a strange mission...but reason A is that "THE KING IS BACK!" That is, the star of the movie is MUSIC, namely ROCK music, and Rockula has the Bo Diddley, Toni Basil, Thomas Dolby and Elvis Presley (sort of) to prove it! Now I have seen a couple of critics split hairs over whether some of the songs can truly be considered "rock", but the fact is, Rap musicians have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and there are elements of rock in most 80's rap songs (Run/DMC even had an album called Kings of Rock) as well as "Soft Rock", "Pop Rock", "Punk Rock" and a dozen other offshoots. The casting is inspired, the costumes are insanely well designed, the jokes hold up very well for a movie filmed in 1988 (and released in 1990), and the performances are fantastic and unforgettable. But the music is what you will enjoy the most. Some of it's "so bad it's good", some of it is actually beautiful and brilliant, but all of it is quirky, cool, and well-produced. I can't say enough good things about this movie, and I'm not going to try. If you don't fall in love with it, you have no soul. But don't take my word for it - see what people have been saying about it online for the past few years. Seriously, Google that ****. Rockula manages to perfectly capture the sound, culture, and innocence of the late 80's. The plot is ridiculous, the whole thing is surreal, but it is absolutely charming and addictive. I would compare it to movies like Phantom of the Paradise in terms of cult appeal, Drop Dead Fred in terms of innocence and charm, and Spaceballs in terms of comedy. That's all I'm telling you about it. Watch it with someone you love.
