“This is my second refuge jacket. I had to buy a new jacket because my old jacket lost its waterproofing and the shoulder areas became torn from carrying things on my shoulder. The zipper placement bothers me because I am right handed. Why is the zipper placed for left-handers?”
“I originally ordered a large which seemed a bit bulky, so I exchanged it for a medium size. (I'm 5'8", 170 lbs). If I wear to many heavy layers under the medium size, the jacket binds a bit, but generally that is not a problem. I recently sat at a football game with three light layers under (one was smart wool) and one lighter layer (displaying school colors) over the Refuge Jacket. I was comfortable to slightly cool while watching the game - just about right (air temp was 35 - 40 F). At about half time, a heavy mist began falling. I stayed dry. I'm very happy with the jacket at the pants which I also bought at the same time. I purchased the fluorescent yellow/green jacket color, which I prefer for its visibility when I'm riding my bike. I still haven't had a chance (or desire) to ride in foul weather, so no comment about that. It is not a summertime warm weather rain jacket. It is too heavy and stiff for that purpose, but it is ideal for cool fall and spring weather or high altitude riding.”
“This jacket is legit. Keeps you dry and comfortable in the rain and the wind. Huge zippers in the front for venting and ultra light material yet thick enough to keep the elements out. Layer accordingly when the temperatures get below 45 degrees and it packs nice and small, probably enough for the middle pocket of a jersey. The hood does go over my helmet as some of the reviews say it doesn't. I don't have a fancy shaped helmet, it's a roundish Bell helmet. The hood itself has an adjustable elastic band inside the material to tighten onto the helmet and keep it in place. It works. Totally love this jacket and can't wait to see how many more century rides I've taken it on come this Spring. Thanks, S.P. d”
