“According to my research, no plastic is safe to contact food. They all use a chemical similiar enough to BSA to mimic estrogen, the reason it promotes cancer., according to some papers I read. Most ceramics contain lead, cadmium, or othe rhighly toxic heavy metals either in the glaze, or naturally occuring in the clay.
Stainless steel or titanium are options, but they are expensive and conduct heat.
That leaves glass. Glass is chemically inert and easy to clean, but it breaks, scatter sharp shards all over the floor.
That leaves silcone. Chemically inert, unbrakable, good for freezer, microwave, dishwasher and easy to clean by hand,. But its too floppy. Until now. Somehow Silipint has figured out ho to make a tumbler that is rigid enough not to be a problem.
I love this tumbler. It is light but unlike some other form factors is mure stable. I tdoesn't knock over so easily. Since it is so big the weight of foluid at the bottom keeps it stable. With the lid it won't spill anway. It's keeps the drink hot or coldlonger, especially with the lid on. The straw is fun too.
I use it all the time. The one issue is it doesn't come in totally clear, like glass. Sometimes I like to see the color of the drink, it is part of the enjoyment. It also helps when mixing ingredients. I see Silipint has some small crystal clear cups so hopefully they will be offering this in the 32oz stra tumbler soon.
Meanwhile the colors are bright and fun. I especially like the white and red stripes, and the white and red and green stripe for the holiday season. They cheer me up in the morning. (I would like to see a 32ox or 22oz tumbler in the same bright red.)
Plus I am confdent it is impossible that any cancer causing chemicals or heavy metals are leaching into the food.”
“I placed several orders for various Siipint styles for my family this Christmas...probably over 40 of them. Since I gave them to many family members & shipped them throughout places in the country, it would have been nice if an enclosure card sent w/ each cup stating all the positives of these cups. It would be nice to have a card in the cup that says it is microwaveable, can be frozen & dishwasher safe. That way when people receive it as a gift they know the multi ways it can be used. Nothing fancy...just a small instruction card for those who haven't heard of Silipint. Love the cups!!”
