“cuts at the ends of the stair rail poles needed recutting square to allow chrome ends to fit square to pole. Pole showed markes where the wood had been turned , possibly on a lathe. The ring markings in the wood, over a 18" section, looked like a raccoons tail. Could only position the pole in one direction so as to make the marks less obvious. If I hadn't have been able to overcome these problems the order would have had to be returned, I dont know who would have covered these expenses.”

“very nice, a bit of a knot in the wood but sound and well prepared. I was missing a couple of the round head screws for fixing the handrails to the bar but other than that it's great. As a reminder this wood is unfinished so you will have to oil or lacquer it yourself which is probably best done prior to installation.”

“Quality of handrail & brackets is very good. However, the screws supplied were 60mm long but wall plugs only 35mm ???? Also it would be very helpful to have a pilot hole pre-drilled in the banister ends. Otherwise it is very difficult to locate the centre for the stainless ends without an 8ft lathe & if your slightly out the ends misalign & look like a dogs breakfast.”

“The item arrived safely packed in a polythene sleeve and cardboard tube. It was not perfectly straight but had a very slight bow in it which I am not bothered about and is not noticeable now that it has been varnished and mounted . Otherwise I am satisfied with the rail and the stainless steel fittings.”
