“My handrails are square section walnut with antiqued brass brackets, I fitted them to my staircase walls for my increasingly disabled wife who has mobility and balance issues. Our local Care Services offered to fit handrails free of charge, but I was concerned that they would not blend in with our bannisters. I was delighted to discover the Simple Handrails website. My existing bannisters are walnut square section stained to a dark mahogany colour, and I will stain the new rails to match. I found the company very helpful in answering queries and resolving issues. With regard to the fixing, Simply Handrails provide 70mm masonry screws with suitable plugs to robustly secure the brackets to the walls. I judged the puny 20mm screws supplied to fix the handrails to the bracket unfit for purpose however, and purchased 40 mm screws (of the same gauge as the masonry screws) from B&Q. If you missed your footing descending the stairs, you wouldn't want to land at the bottom with a handrail in your hand! Very nice wood rails and robust and attractive brackets, with responsive customer service has been my experience.”
