Old Wood 1700 Ebony Polish (20ml) Reviews

4 Rating 1 Reviews
I decided to give this a try as my violin hasn't had a good clean in many years. I used some rosin cleaner first, and then applied the smallest pint to a microfibre cloth, and started on the g string side of the fingerboard to see how it would go. It seemed to be ok, so I moved to the rest of the fingerboard. As I was going to change the strings afterwards, I didn't mind if the Polish got on them, but it did leave a bit of a black mark on the strings, so be careful if you're not ready to change strings. I pulled the strings to get underneath, however a better result would be from taking all the strings off, but unless you are a Luthier I wouldn't do that. I also had a cotton cloth covering the body of the violin, and gloves would have been a good idea, though soap and water got it off easily once I finished. Overall, it's cleaned up the fingerboard well, and I'm happy with the look. The tube will last for a long time, and I'll likely polish each time I'm changing strings now.
