I prefer a dark sound so I very much appreciate the tone and easy playability of these strings, along with a very reasonable price. I put them on a week ago and they've settled in nicely. As I always am, I was pleased with the service from Simply For Strings, which makes something as little as receiving a new set of strings feel like a special occasion.

I bought the Enrico 4/4 set up, and tuned the thing like the newb I am -naturally I snapped the G-String. So I bought these, probably way too expensive for the kit I got, BUT I’m so glad I did! They made the most beginner violin/violinist sound incredible and so-so: respectively. I watched a few re-stringing videos and finished by watching the simply for strings video for re-stringing on YouTube, and honestly I was very impressed with how easy it was. I went really slow G to E strings one at a time. My violin sounds beautiful and I’m pretty confident considering I learned to re-string and tune my violin (properly the second time round), before I even learned one scale. (I’m just learning to bow using D Major). I think I’m going to get a better bow, nothing extravagant, but the one I have is very uncomfortable, and I’m trying a few bow holds). Would definitely buy from S4S’s again, for an upgrade or new strings etc. everything is shipped fast and arrives safely. Thank you Simply for Strings! (Also, Afterpay is a lifesaver! So thanks for that too!)

I recently had my violin repaired and serviced and the old strings were replaced with Tonica strings. These strings did not suit my violin and they sounded hollow. I changed back to Dominant strings and it now sounds like a whole different instrument with so much more warmth. You need to experiment with strings and your instrument and playing style to get the right match for you.

As a beginner I had no idea what a difference good strings can make to the sound, a much richer sound thank you

I have always found Dominant string to produce a warm tone across all strings, particularly if the E is wound. On the rare occasion I have had to reuse old strings in a pinch, they still produce tone. On a practical level and unlike some other brands, Thomastik Dominant will not suddenly break, but will give plenty of warning before that. I have used these strings for the last twenty years and I see no reason to change now.
