“I do enjoy wearing my new shoulder rest, on my beautiful Viola, It has support, but the actual rest is down below, and not as supporting the Viola, but lifting out the Viola which changes the angle for Bowing, it is my problem and when the Christmas holidays are over i will give Simply for Strings a call to find out if i have missed something, or this may be the way it is meant to be.
But certainly very happy with the product and the wonderful support from Company and lovely Staff.
Thanks,
Geoff Q.”
“As an older male beginner, getting used to keeping the violin in position was sometimes a little awkward as the muscle/body memory was taking time to get used to my new hobby. I read about these foam rests and ordered one. Very pleased with the prompt online service from Simply Strings, regular update tracking and when I got the parcel, the care in wrapping the item was appreciated. So far, very happy, have tried it on its now, also with it attached to a hard rest which makes it so much more comfortable and holds it in the correct position. And its great value, thanks.”

“This was a great purchase as the design is intuitive and versatile, and my young student does enjoy the soft texture, however it would benefit from a bit more density. The reason I bought this is because the traditional shoulder rest doesn't quite fit my student's body shape and, whilst this does, it doesn't quite offer enough support. As my student develops more strength and body awareness this will be the ideal option, however until then I might consider other peoples suggestions of combining it with the traditional shoulder rest.”
“I know people use a pair of socks as a shoulder rest, but this is great. Stopped awkward sliding out from under chin/shoulder grip. For my beginner violinist, this added grip to clothing and enables longer practice sessions. Helps with establishing grip control and less embarrassing than socks.”
“I've given the PSR shoulder rest four stars - not because it is great alone - but attached to my more traditional shoulder rest it works wonderfully. I've struggled to find a shoulder rest that would enable me to keep my left hand free to move up and down the fingerboard. When I saw the PSR I decided to try it -- it is cheap although I had reservations that a foam rest lying flat against the back of the violin would dull the brightness of tone. Well the PSR alone was not sufficient to free my left hand but attached to my traditional shoulder rest it acted beautifully. What is more, attached to the shoulder rest and not the back of the violin, enables the tone to remain bright. If you have a shoulder rest and still have struggles keeping your left hand free, buy the PSR and attach it to your shoulder rest with elastic bands - you'll be surprised at how freeing it is!”
