Auto-Retractable Utility Scraper Reviews

4.8 Rating 4 Reviews
Read Slice, Inc. Reviews

Until now, auto-retraction on scrapers was a noble but unrealistic idea. Any spring-loaded blade required the user to hold out a blade extension slider, absorbing all the kickback force directly into their thumb or finger joints. This design flaw is not a problem for a quick scrape, but it’s not ergonomically viable for long-term use. The Slice® SureScrape™ design changes that. SureScrape catches, absorbs, and dissipates kickback force throughout the handle, saving hand joints from repetitive strain. In this way, the Slice auto-retract scraper handles like a manual one. In addition to features like its proprietary safety blade and ergonomic soft-touch grips, viable auto-retraction makes the 10593 the safest scraper on the market. This ambidextrous scraper comes equipped with a rounded-tip utility blade, and is ideal for scraping paint, rust, and adhesives.

Slice makes great products and I've now bought several. They're solidly constructed and feel good in the hand. The ceramic blades work well and last a long time. I didn't realize that the auto-retractable blade does not stay out - you need to keep your thumb on the button. I'm sure this is a great safety feature but did not work well for me trying to scrape the soot off my woodstove door window (hence the 4 stars, but if you want that auto feature, I'd give it 5 stars). However, the company was great, responded immediately, and got me a manual scraper that locks the blade out (definitely 5 stars for customer service).
