“This is a great little device, small enough to to be easily portable (abut half the size of a pack of cigarettes.) It is very easy to use; you just turn it on, place it between your hands, and it records your EKG. You can watch it recording on a small screen, and then transfer the recording your cell phone or iPad. From there it is an easy step to print the EKG using your printer. It easily picks up premature atrial and ventricular contractions and tells you if you are having an arrhythmia. For people who suffer atrial fibrillation every now and again, this is a godsend because you can simply take your EKG each day (takes only 10-30 seconds) to see if you are in normal sinus rhythm. If you are in atrial fibrillation vs. sinus rhythm, having that knowledge can inform your decision to use a blood thinner or not. It will also identify changes in the EKG such as S-T elevation and depression that are indications of impaired blood flow in the heart (e.g., like heart attacks).”
