“Great little metronome, it does everything it says it will. The vibration is cool, especially if you’re kinda tired of playing to the click. It’s so easy to use and the additional straps are really handy. I especially love that you can connect multiple devices to one set list for the whole crew.”
“I love the soundbrenner core, it helps me a lot in my learning, but I'd expect a bit more durability for the body strap rig for this price. Unfortunately it broke after using it a few times.”
“The core I got is great I tried it immediately after I received it. I love how it looks and feels, the metronome is great. I let my sister who plays drum use it and she loved it and was on beat while we practice our songs. This is an awesome gear for musicians. I love the tuner it's on point and I'm a guitar player and I'm loving this gear. I've been waiting for 2 years to get this. And I'm recommending this to all the musicians out there”
“The Core is very close to the perfect watch to me. There are a few caveats however, as with any new, innovate products.
I am a watch enthusiast, and first, let me say this : the build quality is leaps beyond anything I expected at this price-point.
Polycarbonate (in my version) is not a material that I'm familiar with, but it's far better than regular plastic. It seems finely 3D printed, which is nice. The watch separate in two parts, yet it remains IP64 certified (splash-resistant), an incredible feat of engineering.
The crown rotating mechanism feels extremely premium as well as the screen finish. The silicon strap is of excellent quality. I owned 3 watches with silicon straps, from well-known brands, and all were far inferior to this one. The whole experience feels futuristic and luxurious, which for a 300 CAD dollars smart-watch is quite incredible. Bear in mind that it comes with a set of premium ear-plugs in a very nice case, as well as magnetic mount to affix the watch and an extra body-strap!
Connecting the watch is absolutely seamless and took about a second or so, but you need to have it plugged in the wall the first time around for some reason. Not a big deal. I had another smart watch before which would give me troubles syncing.
The implementation of the smart features is very well thought of ergonomically-wise. Most smart-watches needs you to use their awkwardly small touch-screen by design to control everything. The rotating crown and dual-buttons means the touch-screen is only used to stop and start the metronome, timer or stopwatch, as well as the tap-tempo function.
It's a bit cumbersome however that starting/stop functions requires a double-tap. The only other tap function is the tap-tempo, which cannot be confused in it's use with the start/stop function. A single tap would be more practical.
The screen seems to need regular cleaning in order for the double-tap to register properly, as it sometimes fails to.
Metronome-wise, this is by far the best I've used, and I'm the proud owner of the Tama rhythmwatch, an industry standard for a long time now. The tap-tempo going down to sub-BPM is extremely handy to check how precise your counting out is, even when you don't use it in replacement of a click-track. Every way of counting out different time-signatures - including ones I never though of, and I went to college in jazz drumming! - have been well-implemented.
I haven't had the chance to try the tuner yet as I do not play guitar, but I expect it to be accurate.
The dB meter is a bit of a let-down, however : it only starts at 70dB. The main feature of it, indicated by the developers, is to warn you when to use your earplugs. However, not being able to use it in order to measure a noise-level *below* 70dBs is a little ridiculous. I hope this will be fixed in a future firmware.
The notifications works well enough as well as the accept/reject call. I wish there was a different color indicating a call when you are using the metronome; otherwise, you might miss it! Also wished the colors were customizable and you need to make us able to turn the light off when charging, it's way too bright for sleeping.
Besides those small caveats, this feels like what people dreamed-of when they though of a futuristic watch in classic sci-fi stories : the electronic functions implemented are simple and elegant and I dig the retro graphics. The etched, beautiful logo in the middle make it attractive even when the screen is black.
At the end of the day, it still *feels* like watch, not a computer.
Other companies try to put a full computer or smartphone in a watch format, which just doesn't work IMHO. The day or less or battery life for a watch or having to type or use a voice-assistant to perform certain functions? No, thank you.
After 2 weeks of daily use I was searching for it on my wrist yesterday, and was disappointed to find out that I forgot to put it on. This is the greatest compliment you can give a watch!
I wish a basic fitness and sleep tracker were also implemented so that more people outside the musicians community would get this watch!
This is THE watch I've always wanted. It's so amazing I will definitely get the stainless-steel version and keep both as my daily-drivers. I'm sure, given how new the product is, that the firmware updates will fix the issues mentioned above.
Engineering of this level at this price-point put any other watch brand at shame, period.”
“This awesome gadget is now my favorite metronome/tuner device. Super portable and easy to use. I feel my rhythm improved since I'm using my Soundbrenner Core”
