“Rhythm is always something that I’m keeping an eye on with my own playing and what I like about the soundbrenner is that it helps keep me in a state of feeling as opposed to a state of thinking. In other words, it helps keep me out of my own head while playing guitar. Thumbs uuuuuup.”
“I use my pulse in conjunction with a click track at my church. I play drums so it's a bit louder for me than the other musicians. In the past I had to turn the click way up to make sure I didn't lose the beat, but not anymore. This has been a game changer for me.”
“The HW is good. The metronome can be felt and is comfortable as a wearable.
However, the software app that accompanies the HW is behind a subscription model that is much too expensive. If the app was used stand-alone without HW I can see how maybe a subscription-based model could be justifiable. However, when buying one of the Soundbrenner devices I would expect such a model or at least a huge discounted rate. If I had known this before I might not have purchased the metronome!”
“I bought it primarily for guitar use but also find it helps big time with drumming. Essentially it can work with any instrument. I haven't dug into how to sync it with my DAW....Logic Pro X...but plan to do that soon.”
“Well, as you're asking me to write a review, here goes. I hope you guys are listening because my purchase of the Soundbrenner Pulse is full of disappointment, and you need to learn to do things better in the future.
First the transaction: I made the mistake of buying direct, instead of through Amazon, thinking I would save money. As I'm in Europe, I got extra charges on my credit card AND customs charges of 40€ from DHL. So I already felt like an idiot BEFORE opening the box.
Second, the quality. It's really PLASTICKY. Only on that score it should cost 30€ MAX.
Third, it took far longer than the 2 hours indicated to charge. That doesn't inspire confidence. After that it does appear to do more or less what it says in the instructions, but relies heavily on the mobile app to get the full benefits - the mobile app, which is free by the way. In my opinion, the pulse doesn't add enough value to the app to be worth the money.
To be quite honest, I'd like my money back, but I'm never going to recover the customs charges OR the credit card commissions and my little boy likes playing with it because it tickles, so the prospect of packaging it up and sending it back holds very little attraction for me.
The ubiquitous ads make it look great, but I think that only heightens the disappointment.”
