I searched online for about ten days before deciding to purchase my Sherpa case for my iPad2. I looked at dozens of designs by many manufacturers. After only one day I can already tell that I made the correct decision. I opted for the Midnight (black) color over the saddle tan color because I feel the black case will not detract from what is on the screen. I use my iPad to show rental properties to prospective tenants, so I want to keep them focused on what is on the screen, and not be distracted by a very beautiful case! It is small, elegant, classy-looking and very functional. The Midnight cases come with silver-colored hardware versus the gold-colored hardware on the tan cases. In my business, I need to have my hands free, yet keep the iPad by my side at all times; hence, I was looking for something with a carry strap. An added bonus to using the carry strap is that I can't put it down and walk away, and risk losing it. If you decide you don't want the carry strap for certain occasions, you can simply remove it and reattach it later. The strap is adjustable and can be made quite long. I don't know why another reviewer has made negative comments about the size or location of the camera hole, but it is absolutely not a problem at all for me. I even made several attempts to move the iPad around in the case to see if I could duplicate the problem as described by this reviewer, but I was unable to do so. Every picture I took using the rear camera is just fine. The iPad is very snugly secured in the Sherpa, so it doesn't move around. It is secured by a leather strap by a hook-and-loop (Velcro) fastener, so when it's fastened in place, the iPad stays put. The velcro fastener is even enclosed so it's virtually impossible to release it accidentally. It isn't difficult to put the iPad into the case or to remove it. There are many cases out there with more features, but I wanted one that is small and simple. Specifically I wanted one that did not have a gazillion pockets. I have an iPad2 car charger that is virtually never used; it stays in the car, and I don't need to cart it around with my iPad when I'm out of the car. I don't need my Sherpa to hold business cards or pens, because I bought my iPad so that I don't have to carry either. The Sherpa is extremely well-made. The leather appears to be a good quality and the stitching is even. It opens quickly with one hand since it has only one snap to release. I didn't know it until I received mine, but the case allows you to adjust the iPad to just about any viewing angle. The half of the case that contains the iPad has a narrow Velcro strip on the bottom that keeps it from sliding as it's propped up on the other half. Of course, you can always leave the iPad flat on the table for viewing. I'm unable to find anything I don't like about my Sherpa. It's priced right, looks great and is just what I need. Five Stars!

This case is great! Very thoughtfully designed with the built in stand function and the easy-to-detach strap. Only 4 stars for me because the zipper on the side pocket broke within a few days of using, but it's not a major feature anyways. Mostly I love it.

I bought this iPad case specifically for the shoulder strap. As a meeting planner, I'm always on the move and this convenient case allows me to be hands-free. I highly recommend.

I have spent a lot of money trying to find an iPad case with shoulder straps, something that would let you use the iPad without having to remove it from the case: the idea being that on a job site you can have the iPad hanging from your shoulder and be able to easily lift it up and use it. It's surprisingly hard to find something that does what seems like a simple task. The Sherpa works quite well for that purpose: it securely holds the iPad 2 and it's easy to open the cover flap and use the iPad while standing up. Sitting down, the case makes a nice landscape mode stand that works quite well, whether watching a video or surfing the web. The case looks nice, has a rugged shoulder strap and a nice heavy duty, but soft cloth bag that provides protection for the case when you put it in a backpack, carry it in the car, etc. So why not five stars instead of three? Well, you cannot use the back camera while your iPad is in the case! There is a hole in the case for the camera lens, but the case is somewhat thick at that point and the hole is too narrow. The result is that the case blocks part of the lens and you get what is called vignetting, which basically means part of your photo or movie is covered by what looks like a curved shadow. I discovered this only after shooting a lot of videos outdoors. It was a bright sunny day so the screen had a fair amount reflections on it and while I could see the main subject matter easily enough, I did not see what was going on in the corner of the image until I played back the video later on: a large portion of the lower right corner of the video was obscured by the too-small hole in the case! For the rest of the day I had to remove the iPad from the case in order to take pictures and of course that makes a $60 case a whole lot less worthwhile than it should be. Now I have to take this rather nice looking case and butcher it in order to make the lens hole large enough. I'm hoping to be able to make it a clean modification, but, again, for that kind of money, I shouldn't have to do that. By the way, you can't really get rid of the shadow by moving the iPad around inside the case: it's a snug case and you can only move it a little bit and even then there's still blockage of the image, so really you cannot take pictures with the back camera when it's in the case. If the case did not do the rest of it's job so well, I'd try to get my money back, but instead I'll dig out the Xacto knife, drill and Elmer's glue and and try to correct this major design flaw.

Finally this case came out in iPad Mini size! I've heard so much about it from my buddies, and read lots of reviews for the “big” case, and now the wait is over. The case is everything they say it is and more! I simply love it, and never leave home without my iPad Mini inside the Sherpa folio.

A bit pricey compared to other ipad cases, but it is all that it appears to be in the pictures. Fully cradles ipad in a way that would make it hard to damage it. Adjustable shoulder strap seems to be very durable. Hole for the camera could be a little bigger because the ipad moves a little in the case, and you have to wiggle the ipad a little to get it just right, but I would buy it again if I had to. great case
