“The Redline 2016 - 2023 Toyota Tacoma (Max Lift Edition) Hood QuickLIFT PLUS was easy to install and worked great. The only problem was the brackets that rivet to the truck. The paint on the brackets was chipped in several places. Installation was pretty easy and they do lift the hood great and higher than the prop rod. I followed the directions to a T but only got a 6" lift over the prop rod height, which is fine for me.”
“So I love these on my 2020 Tacoma!! I had trouble installing them though. First I watched the video and used those measurements to begin with and it turned out to be a huge mistake!! Then the rivet gun went bad on the first rivet I went to use it on. So I had to go and buy a new one. I contacted the store and got a response the next day!! That was so awesome. Me watching the video and not checking the exact placement was my fault. Having my hood open and close so easily now is awesome. Thanks TacomaBeast. I will be using you guys a lot more in the future!!”
“I definitely like the results of the installed hood struts and would recommend them. I had some trouble setting the rivets though. I already had what I thought was a good manual rivet gun. It is/was an Arrow brand from Home Depot. But unfortunately I couldn't get the rivets supplied in the kit to fully set and break off. The rivet shaft was so difficult to break that the handle on my manual rivet gun broke. I ended up finding a cordless powered rivet gun (Milwaukee) that worked like a charm to set and pop the rivet in place. I think that the included 3/16" rivets are pretty big for run-of-the-mill home projects and so require something bigger/better than the typical home use rivet gun like the ones sold at most big box stores. I'm not saying that the 3/16" rivets were too big. On the contrary, I like that something I am installing on my truck is pretty burly. It's just probably larger than is really meant to be handled with the type of tool I had. Considering the cost of the Milwaukee cordless tool, this turned the job into a much more expensive task than I thought it was going to be. On a positive note, I never really mind buying tools. I now have a cordless rivet gun in my tool collection for the one or two times a year when I might need it... ;-).”
“i was a bit worried about the install, especially when it came to drilling into the hood, since i did not want to accidentally push too far. but it went pretty smoothly and now the hood opens smoothly and much wider than with the factory hood stand”
