“These arrived at my doorstep this morning and I immediately set out to install them on my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. They came in a factory Alpha Rex box and were well protected…I inspected each tail light as I took them out of the box and found no issues.
They don’t come with any instructions but there are tons of videos on YouTube showing how to install them, though it will probably be quicker for me to list out the steps here than it would be to search YT:
1. Open your tailgate and, counting top to bottom, remove the second and 4th bolt holding the tail light assembly in place.
2. Remove the tail light assembly by gripping it firmly and pulling straight back. It can take a bit of force but I find one strong, solid yank will often pop them out in one move.
3. There are wires leading to the back of the old tail light. Disconnect all three and then remove each of the three bulbs from the tail light assembly by gently rotating them until they can be pulled out. Note the grey housing that the top two bulbs are in: you will be removing the bulb from this housing and reusing it.
4. Wearing gloves remove the bulbs from the two housings mentioned above (you won’t want the oils from your skin getting on the bulb’s glass should you wish to reuse the bulb someday). Plug the wires from your new tail light into the grey housing where the glass bulbs were.
5. Feed the wire back inside the tail light and rotate the grey housing to secure it to the tail light (the same way your removed them from the old tail light). If you purchased an LED reverse bulb then install that now. If not simply reuse the bulb from your factory tail light.
6. Plug the wires from the truck into the new tail light assembly. This would be a good time to have a friend operate the lights for you so you can make sure they all work.
7. Replace the tail light assembly on the truck in the reverse order of taking it off. Line up the two metal “spikes” that hold the tail light assembly onto the truck and push it back into place. Replace the two 10mm bolts and then repeat the process for the other tail light.
8. Post a cool picture of Instagram.
I’m very happy with the appearance and function of these tail lights. I’ve had them for just a few hours so I obviously can’t speak to their durability but I have a suspicion that these are going to provide years of trouble free service.”
“I just put these on my cement 2020 Tacoma. My girlfriend immediately commented, “I wish they made some that looked this good for my 4Runner.”
They’re really easy to install (took maybe 10 minutes for them both). You can watch a YouTube video for the install, but it’s pretty easy to figure out without it.”
“They look amazing and are easy to install. Really liked that the truck kept the factory look. Like always Tacomabeast shipped them right away! Great job guys!”
