2005-2015 ARB Safari Air Snorkel System (4.0L Tacoma) Reviews

4.8 Rating 4 Reviews
This has been the first thing I have installed on my tacoma that didn't need some sort of extra fabrication. I had it installed in less than half a day and it went very smooth. I kept thinking something was going to go wrong but it never did. Thanks for making this part fit exactly as was intended.

The snorkel is bulky. I had an aftermarket cold air intake before. After installing the safari snorkel the MPG went down 1mpg on the freeway. Overall throttle response was reduced. The exhaust was quieter. The huge benefit of the snorkel is the ability to not hydro lock the motor. The stock 2nd gen tacomas have the intake over the passenger fender splash guard and it sucks in water easily. The snorkel looks pretty cool but it definitely changes the look of the truck from streamline to off-road. A lot more needs to be done to cross deep water but the snorkel is a good start for 2nd gen tacomas that don't want to easily hydro lock the motor. The install takes time. Make sure to buy the correct size whole saw. Overall I feel more confident driving in heavy rain and flooded roads with the snorkel. The quality of the plastic is also very good. 4 stars because the snorkel is expensive and takes a lot of patience to install correctly since there's a lot of drilling on the fender and A pillar. I've tested this snorkel in heavy rain, deep water and flooded roads and like I mentioned I am very confident the motor won't take in water from the intake anymore.

2 weeks so far and it holds up well, Good quality, and very easy to install. I didn’t drill into the pillar because I didn’t want to and felt like it’s not very necessary. The 3M double sided tape is doing wonders and driving on the fast lane 90mph sometimes, is still holding up. It changes the look and man does it turn heads, even breaks grandmas neck and hip cause she won’t stop staring at it when I drive by. Very worth it considering it floods in my area.
