“Bought the V2 X-Glide V2 foil. Bought it as a secondary equipment for my HS700 because I heard about problems with front wing connection and attachment. Love the balance of the stabilizer X300 for X-Glide V2 1250 and 1950. The 1250 front wing is quite playful and handles breaches quite well but is on the slower side of its class which is untypical for its size while it is also the smallest X-Glide V2 available. It handles light wind very well, I wouldn't recommend anything bigger for a rider under 80 kg. Quality wise it looked solid at first although a bit heavy. Riding the aluminum edition it quickly occurred to me that the mast has a slight ventilation issue. Construction also lacks at some by the time well known points: The m6 screws to fix the front wing sit in a recess which has very little support. Over time the screw will work its way through the carbon. Although there is no option for a longer fuselage available. The fuselage to mast connector fits very well on the bottom side, but seems to fit not so well for the mast side. The fuselage itself is connected via two m8 screws. Sadly my two setups at both fuselages both tend to untighten after 15 minutes of driving without jumping or anything severe. Although the customer support was friendly and helpful at times, they did not fix this obvious material fault by replacement but instead told me to apply Tefgel or Loctite which I tried out but which did not solve the problem at all. But what good is a foil when I drive it 2 or 3 hours at lake Garda when I loose it because the screws come off?”
“Bought 1250 X-Glide for light wind conditions and I have to say I'm pretty impressed by the wind range. As a 75 kg rider with 5.2 wing and 75 l board, I was able to get up with a few gusts (comparable to my 1750 GA foil).
The downside is the link between front wing and fuselage, which could be more solid. Front wing is a bit wobbly and i had to use insulating tape on the fuselage to prevent the movement. I also find very important to tighten the screws at the bottom of the foil first, then top screws (it feels like that wobbling is more probable when doing it vice versa). When I tested foil, after 60 mins, I almost lost my front wing because the screws went loose (I applied tef-gel). This makes me nervous and I am afraid to make radical turns, pump and ride faster. Lastly, bolts which connect mast to the board were not compatible with my JP X winger, because they're too short (25 mm). Assuming that mounting trails on takoon boards are shallow compared to mine, where 30 or 35 mm bolts are necessary, but this issue dont affect my rating.”
“Moving to the 1450 from a thick, 2000cm medium-aspect beginner foil, it took me around 4 sessions to get used to the decrease in stability. Lift is not an issue, the foil gets out of the water just fine, and I don't breach the surface any more all the time like with the big foil. I weigh 72kg and with a 5sqm wing I get going at 15 knots (and my pumping technique is terrible) Also edge-to-edge stability (roll) is fine due to the wider aspect ratio. What I really wish though is that the setup was less sensitive in the pitch direction (nose up/down). That's what is giving me the most issues. I don't find it particularly user friendly in that respect. Solid build quality though, I would say 10/10 for value for money.”
“After unboxing
Delivery very fast. Ordered on Saturday, delivered on Wednesday. Everything without problems.
The bag that comes with it makes a good impression. You get a lot in and you can also use it purely as a wing bag to take several front wings with you.
The mast is therefore not completely hollow, so that not much water can collect here. The outside of the profile is closed. In addition, the mast plate has a rubberized layer, which I find quite nice. Everything is provided with M8 screws and looks solid. The fuselage adapter looks solid and is screwed together with the fuselage in the mast. Everything fits together well.
The connection of the front wing has some small play to the left and right. There is a hint from the manufacturer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8ggnX3Qutg) to help out with a thermofoil tube. Unfortunately, I don't know why the thermal foil isn't included. I don't really like this play on the fuse either. I would expect a solid connection here, even at such a price. I'm afraid that the behavior will get worse after a period of use.
After I had assembled the whole set, I wobbled the foil set on the mast on the ground. You notice a clear flex here, which can apparently be found in the area of the front wing mount. You can clearly see how the fuse moves left and right, even though the front wing remains firmly on the ground and is also firmly mounted. Apparently this is the remaining play as described above after tightening the screws. It certainly doesn't get any better if you change the front wings frequently.
After contacting the support, I got the following answer:
Play is normal and necessary, without it you wouldn't be able to put your frontfoil on without forcing it.
We have production tolerances, carbon products are hand-made and can vary within this tolerance.
The frontfoil must be wedged to the fuselage.
You can shim your frontfoil with heat-shrink tubing
you can also place aluminum tape over the front foil's footprint.
To prevent the screws from loosening, you can use tef gel, which is a slightly sticky marine grease, or blue loctite.
I don't know, what to do with this answer. Currently not used the set on the water.”
“Bonjour,
