A standard bath tube fills at 4 gallons per minute. However, there are tubs with much larger flow rates. That said the RTEX-36 electric tankless water heater will provide a 62 degree temperature rise at 4 gallons per minute. Most people fill their baths at 105 degrees, but some like it as hot as 110. If your incoming water temperature is 45 degrees that would mean at 4 gallons per minute the water would be coming out at 107 degrees. Depending on the flow rate of your tub, the incoming water temperature and how hot you like your tube, the RTEX-36 may not be able to provide the temperature rise you need. It sounds like you may need a whole home natural gas or propane tankless water heater. While the RTEX-36 is the largest electric tankless water heater made by Rheem, and it can be used for a shower and sink or maybe two showers at once, or a bath at once, depending on where you live, it is still an electric point of use type unit. It is important prior to purchasing a tankless water heater to know what your coming water temperature is the winter, how many gallons per minute you need, and then making sure the unit will be able to provide the temperature rise and gallons per minute you will need.
