Could not ask for better secluded campsite for my friends and I to enjoy Thanksgiving. We are already talking about booking another stay in the summertime. Absolutely beautiful.

Skipping Rock was a dream! We loved it so much! Highly recommend! Best to go when it's warm enough to float down the river.

The place is very nice, it LOOKS like very secluded. It's a riverfront with a high cliff across the river, there's a hill behind the site and trees on either side. There's another campsite that you'll pass by along the way which is about 1/2mile away so it's not very close. James (0wner) is very nice, he provided us with drinking water, water for shower (outdoor) and washing, firewood for the firepit and wood stove. There's a loo inside the tent which very helpful at night but also there's a porta potty outside that James let us use. There's also a camp stove with propane inside the outdoor kitchen/cabinet with some other pots for making coffee. Under the bed are some board games, an extra tent and an outdoor shower tent. We went first week of November and we are lucky that the weather is perfect during the day 70's but at night the temp goes down to low 40's. The wood stove helps a lot but you have to keep feeding it with wood every now and then which is what we did on our first night, the second night we use our buddy heater and have it on high the entire night to manage the cold. The tent is on a platform deck which has gaps between the slats that cold air can get in, the sides are all sealed and there are some carpet but it didn't cover the entire floor. The only con I have to say is that you can hear cars/trucks passing by even at night, there seems like a road close by.

What a beautiful weekend at Skipping Rock. We booked both campsites with family. We enjoyed the walk between the two sites and the different feel of both sites. We kayaked in the river and played in the field with our dogs. We loved watching the cows walk by from the Honeysuckle Hideaway site. We had rain the second night but we were warm and dry inside the tent and the sound of rain on the canvas was heavenly. My boyfriend planned a proposal during our stay and the camp keepers encouraged him to set up anywhere he liked and to even use the wildflowers from the property. It was beautiful! I’m so grateful the hosts have opened their property for others to enjoy this little slice of heaven. It has a special place in my heart now and I hope we can return!

I cannot wait to go back! They thought of everything; I could have literally just shown up with clothes and food and been fine. I enjoyed the beautiful autumn colors, my husband enjoyed the fishing and we loved the cool evenings around the campfire.
