The sheep were really fun and cool to see. The tent itself was a bit dirty but still had a good time.

Amazing place, very quiet and private. Facilities were in good condition and Jason was super friendly, responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

If you're wondering if you should book, answer is yes. Jason was excellent in responding to questions and advice. Hurricane Ida made the site very muddy. Only blame is to Ida. Otherwise I think it would have been a much better experience. Am already considering in going back (hopefully no rain

Owners gave us plenty of firewood at no extra charge which was great. I only have 2 small complaints. 1. The carbon monoxide detector is in a bad location. I kept on bumping into it 2. Difficult to walk through the sheep poop at the entrance Should have a different entrance for guest to walk around The camp site is great and very private

This was a great site - not too far off the highway and easy to find. Came up here in the middle of summer with 3 others (and a dog!) and we all loved the little extras that were a part of the site: the garden cart to haul our stuff from the parking area to the site, all the firewood and the kitchen stuff. The site is in the shade, so it never got too hot; however, it is SUPER buggy (at least in the summer, when we went), so bring that bug spray! Otherwise perfect and I recommend swimming at White Pond.

Such a great weekend! Jason saved us when the site we had initially booked canceled two days before we scheduled to leave due to muddy conditions. I found Holmestead Woods and immediately reached out to Jason to see if we could schedule a last minute trip and thankfully we could! We loved the site, it was secluded and private but also close to everything we needed. The sheep are adorable and my girls had the best time feeding them each day. Even my little one who is really not into camping wants to come back so she can feed the sheep again! Jason was very responsive to all my texts and very helpful with suggestions. It was a great weekend!

A one-hour ride from NYC, Holmestead Woods is a beautiful break from concrete and city life. You know you are in a special place when you walk through a field of gentle goats complete with trees being freshly chopped for an abundance of wood for fires both inside and outside. Brush up on "How to light a Campstove" if you're staying in winter but know your hosts are there if you need. A great memory for us!

When someone returns a 2nd time that is probably the most reliable indicator that this is a good pick. I had the unfortunate luck of camping on a mid-November night where the temperature dropped to 18º but the tent has a stove and the stove can get it over 60º if you want. Jason provided plenty of split firewood to create plenty of heat. So don't let winter end your camping season!
